Hey guys, quick update... we're almost ready for launch of the spare tire trash bag. Look for a release with pricing and where to buy in a few weeks. We're really excited to offer this product to everyone. Thanks for being patient.

We use one of my old US GI duffel bags (a nylon bag). Plastic trash bags, smashed down as much as possible, get put in the duffel, which gets lashed to the roof rack of my Yukon, or tossed in the back of the PU if we're pulling the 5th wheel.

The duffel is sufficiently strong that the trash bags stay intact, and should one leak it can easily be cleaned off. Plus, I've got more than a few duffel bags, thanks to the US Taxpayers.

Saw these (well the prototype) at the SoCal M&G toady. They are going to be quite stout. It will be nice to have a rugged bag to put trash that I pick up on the trails. No GF jokes please. Oh, go ahead. that could be funny.

Thanks for the kind words.

Figured i'd throw out an update. The bags have been delayed and will be here end of the month-beginning of next. We are looking at releasing them first-second week in September now (hopefully). Thank you for patience guys.

I first minimize trash by removing packaging before leaving the house. For the trash I do generate I use a garbage bag and store it inside the pelican that I use for my dry goods. I find that the box empties out at about the same rate as I generate the trash so there has never been a problem stowing it. By keeping it in the pelican, mice, and other critters stay away. If I have a lot of trash, I put it in a dry bag and stow it on the roof. The rinse out with a hose, so even if the garbage bag leaks it is pretty easy to clean up.

As for wag bags... Fortunately in Washington we rarely need them, but on those rare occasions when we do I have a completely separate system.

I purchased a bunch of OpSaks. These seal up so well that bears can't smell their contents. If a bear can't smell it, then neither can I. I put the wag bag in the OpSak, seal it, then insure that it doesn't accidentally come open by using a Clip-n-Seal. The clip-n-seal just insures that nothing puts any pressure on the zip-lock like seal of the bag. The opsak w/ the wag bag in it, goes into a *special* pelican case that I use just for this purpose. I think an ammo can would work just as well, but I wanted an extra odor and liquid containment barrier between me and the stuff.

Could you bring your bag to San Diego on the 29th, so I can check it out?

Don't know if we'll be there for sure.. we are headed out the week after that M&G. If we make it down, i will bring the prototype... because i don't know if the production bags will be ready by then.
