about the buckles.. i feel sort of dumb.. i thought that one side was sewn in but they are not.

all you have to do is swap the buckles on one side, right or left, it does not matter. (put the male buckle on the top and the female on the bottom of the trasharoo or the other way around.)

then you can connect the two top buckles and hang it anywhere. no modifications or extras needed to make it work.

The Overland Expo in Hollister Hills is October 19th - 23rd. Dave, I'm going to be there in a roundabout way, Chris Bradley is doing the ExPoordition Challenge the week before, ending up at Hollister, and I am his co-pilot. You want me to take a couple 'Roos up to the event with us? We can use them as padding :)

I used my Trasharoo to pack out my wet and muddy tent from the VT Rally last weekend. Easier to just stuff it in the Roo when it's raining.

Mine is the new one. When I first put it on, i thought this thing looks kinda...but after using it for a weekend, I am sold. It stayed tight in place. Doesn't flap around on the highway and keep all the smelly trash out of my jeep

Great People...Great Product!

Picked up my Trasharoo this past weekend at the Off-Road Expo and must say, adventureduo are great to do business with and the product appears to be well built. I am anxiously waiting until this weekend to "field test" on the Mojave Road.

Thanks Trasharoo...

Scion of the Trasharoo Empire or Dave,

While you consider modifications for the next batches, task your research and development engineer division with the following recommendations and observations.

1. perhaps a beefier YKK zipper than the current fine tooth zipper on the flap pouch. Over the last year of frequent use, constant exposure to UV light, dust, and rain seems to have made the self-mending teeth reluctant to heal and the petite zipper clasp broke trying to close the pouch at the soggy VT rally. I use the pouch to store clean trash bags so there's enough weight to keep the flap opening closed even with the broken zipper clasp.

2. Also, the metal drains have popped off, not that it prohibits the intended function.

These aren't complaints as I use it to haul my trash and other bulky, wet items; it accomplishes this mission at a fair price. Other than these minor issues it continues to serve me well.

Thank you for the kind words gentlemen. We have sent up some stock for Hollister Rally. Hopefully everyone that wants one gets one.

Tango, its funny you mention the YKK zipper as we were discussing that very brand today and we're working on some very exciting stuff regarding that.. Stay tuned!!

As far as the drain hole issue, that is a new one for us. Give me a call at the shop tomorrow and we'll take care of you. 714.854.7292

I like vegakat's suggestion of adding a tire cover. The sun in az is really tough on tires, and spares are exposed all the time. A reversible one would be nice too for daily driving duties, nothing to catch a thief's attention, just looks like a tire cover, then flip it around for the trail.

Great idea, however the problem with the tire cover is, we'll have to make 3-4 different versions of each colored bag to accommodate different tire dimensions. The way we produce these bags and keep our price low is that we run a large amount of bags at one time in all three colors, all same size and shape. We aren't sewing these up one by one. Else, we could make changes on the fly, add/remove options, make custom sizes and the like. That is the reason why we designed the x-strap with really long webbing leads so that it can fit a wide variety of tire sizes, racks, tail gates, roll bars etc.

Better buckles. Easier to tighten, stay tight when adjusted. Metal.

Gotta admit, metal buckles and sliders would be great. Putting the snap buckle joint right at the bottom of the bag might make it more accessible by putting them under the spare tire instead of behind it. And a single tightening fixture right there on the lower backside would get all that hardware out of the sun as well. That would just leave the straps over the top getting sun exposure, and encasing the straps in a sleeve on the top of the tire (just a longer version of the current buckle sleeves) would serve two purposes... UV protection for the straps themselves, and allowing the straps to slide easier across the tire for easier tightening. In my dreams I'd like that single tightening point at the bottom of the tire to incorporate some form of ratchet so I could keep from getting all blackened-up by my spare every time I put the Trasharoo on, but then the price point is probably shot. Maybe for the de-luxo, heavy-duty version? And speaking of better UV-resistance, I love my Trasharoo, but I'm starting to wonder how long before I have to buy a new one because of the way the straps are aging...

Still not sure what caused this spot as it's nowhere near any hot spot on the vehicle and it's not like I've ever carried a lit BBQ pit on my cargo carrier.

I know that UV exposure in the AZ/CA sunshine can't be any milder than here in TX, but I'm figuring I need to find some kind of UV-resistant spray-on coating for the next one I buy.

And I will be buying another because I love my Trasharoo. Heck, I've had it long enough that I get in trouble with my compadres if I don't have it when we go shooting/to the beach/cookouts/whatever... "Dude, WTH? Did you forget THE trash bag? Why don't you just leave that thing on?" OMG, you mean we're just gonna have to use a normal bag now? Oh no! :ylsmoke: Nobody else has a rear-mounted spare either, such is my lot in life, lol.

I've looked at these for a while, and with the things I've recently read...here and elsewhere...I'll have to get one. Looks like I need to relocate my liscense plate off my spare tire so I can make the jump...great reading these ideas!
