TRD or clean slate

My truck is the SR5 V6 and I love it from an aesthetics point of view (Wish the flares were OEM black). I specifically was looking for a "clean slate" due to the more expensive nature of the TRD trucks. They do have nice features but were simply out of my price range. The seats, however, are AWFUL in the SR5, AWFUL. If I could do it again and afford it, I would do a TRD Offroad with A-trac and rear locker.

You're already in a hole. Buying new isn't going to solve it.
If you have to get all creative to buy something new, you probably can't afford it.

C'mon guys.....this is AMERICA! When. Does debt ever get in the way when dreams are involved?

Probably right. Plus when its new you wont want to beat on it and get it dirty.

Gave it some thought and read the responses. IF and when the old 95 gets replaced maybe I will treat myself to a NEW truck. Never bought one before. I've always purchased older models and built them to fit my need. And I would hate to scratch a truck after paying $30,000 on it. For now, I'm going to keep both vehicles, makes taking on a project on the truck a little easier when you do not have to rely on it to get you to work on Monday. VW for work and Toyota for play. Hopefully the toyota gets used more than the VW....LOL

Thinking more about this and it is really unfortunate that Toyota doesn't offer all the choices in trucks they used to. I would have considered a 4cyl in the TRD OR if they offered it. Future gas prices aren't gonna go down and sooner or later people will be unable to afford driving the v6/v8s that toyota offers. People will need other options such as a 4cyl in more options or a diesel.

p.s.
I want my wind wing window vents back.

ETAV8R - I hear ya, how nice would it be to be able to walk in to the toyota dealer and purchase a truck ala' cart. 4x4 diesel, X-cab, no carpet, hand crank windows, locker, and YES, wing window vents.

That's never going to happen... The demand would be virtually nil. And nobody would spend $30k on a truck equipped like that. Diesels today in the US have so much emissions crap that their reliability / longevity is questionable over their gas counterpart. Plus, you're paying 5-15% more for diesel fuel than gas (which offsets the gain in mpg).

BTW... you can get the Taco with rubber flooring (like the FJ) and no carpet.

How about ARB ATRAC units?

I have an '07, none of that on mine. Frankly I am not a fan of atrac and whatever else is on the later trucks. Driving skills, 4 wheel drive, ABS disable mod and lockers will get you anywhere the rig is able to go.

Now you're talking... all that alphabet soup stuff is just another thing to break and leave you stranded on the trail. K.I.S.S. Knowledge, skill, and ability rule the day.

Hey... HEY! You damn kids get off my grass!
