This is cool, I'll follow along. My wife's more into detecting than I am. A friend of her's recently found a ring after a storm on the beach here in South Jersey. She had it appraised.....$18k!!!! It was diamond & platinum.

Nice! I bet that's a good feeling. ...

It is. We have more in our collection but are not in any hurry to liquidate everything. The coin that Diana found in a sand dune on a remote beach (in the northern hemisphere is all I'll say regarding location) dated from the early 19th century.

Nice. Where were you hunting around? I was down in Phoenix for the holiday, stopped by A&B Prospecting and had a great chat with the employees. They have a really active prospecting and detecting population down that way. Should have brought a detector with me :D

My dad lives in Kingman so I go out there. There are a couple of good fields in that neck of the desert, Franconia and Golden valley. Both strewn fields produce well.

My partners and I prospect local creeks and honestly have not found a wealth of gold. There's always gold just not alot of it. Every trip is fun. Sounds like metal detecters are the way to go honestly. I would think beaches would be a great place to go. How water proof can detecters be? 30' maybe?
