Triumph Scrambler 400X

I picked up a 2024 Triumph Scrambler 400X last month for light trails and fun. I wanted a lighter bike but not necessarily a dedicated offroad moto. For now, it seems to fit the bill for me. I had to pick it up in LA on my way to Moab after t he transport truck broke down. But it did give me 50+ miles of offroading in the Maze district in Canyonlands. Trial by fire as I am not a very experienced rider but looking forward to more miles. Being around 400lbs, I can put it on a hitch mount and tackle the long miles in the truck and then get riding when we hit dirt. It is well balanced and a good height for me at 6ft 1in. It has enough power for me as I am not looking to go fast. I have done 75+ on the freeway and the wind drag is pretty bad since it doesnt have a windscreen. I was debating between Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 or 450, KTM 390 Adventure and the 400X. Overall, Im pretty happy with my choice.

Good looking machine. I thought Triumph offered a high exhaust scrambler model!

The 900 and 1200s have the high exhaust. But they are bigger and much heavier. I want a smaller more nimble bike I can put on a hitch.

I just ordered more aggressive tires for offroad riding and a trip to Colorado.

Awesome trip to Colorado to do sections of the Continental Divide through New Mexico and Colorado. The Triumph Scrambler 400X did great offroad. My buddy also rode his Royal Enfield Himalayan 411. Beautiful trails and some more challenging rocky, steep sections. We rode Stony Pass (12,650ft) and Engineer Pass(12,800ft) the same day. Engineer pass is a high clearance 4x4 only trail with ruts, rocks and some steep climbs. The 400X tackled it all with ease. I learned a lot and my skills grew exponentially. We had some chilly nights waking up to 28 and 27F at 10k ft elevation which made riding in the mornings rough. Overall, we rode 300 to 400 miles and then put the bikes on the MotoTotes and drove 17 hrs home.
