Troopy in Seattle

The only reason why you won't get close to your asking price (from any Expo member, i bet some guy in seattle would talk you down to sub $50k) is because its an AU right hand drive, same scenario with Defenders.. They just don't sell, especially for that kind of change.. ive imported and sold 9+ pop top 1991-94' Troopies all LHD, dual tanks, Trakka tops, sub 150,000km, and kitted interior- all sold for sub $48,000... If I'm not mistaken the one that Nitro Axles built sold for sub $45,000 as well, and theirs was absolutely cherry.. A RHD PT Troopy isn't a vehicle you can make a $40k profit on, its not a sprinter:ROFLMAO:

You are right the land cruiser is better.

I'd take a LC over a pop top sprinter any day, but realistically a 4x4 pop top sprinter would sell for $100k+, have a warranty, less than 30K miles, and a lot more tech, and creature comforts. I mean, look at everything you get with the 4x4 NV pop top for sale right now by an EP member for $60k..

One is a expedition vehicle, the other is what skiers use on the weekend- except for the Zaskar Sprinter, that guy is going places haha

lol for sure -- sprinter 4x4 doesn't really do trails, its too big, too tall, lean angle etc.
4x4 Sprinters are awesome for freeway road trips, but they're not anywhere near in the same class capability wise -- the 4x4 system is good for snow and ice, but its not made for real offroading .. as far as "expedition" goes.
the 70-troopy is more comparable to g wagon 460/461 diesel Benz.
shipping one for overseas travel (to go around the world) is cheaper in a smaller container
it all depends on where you wanna go and what kinds of trips you want to do -- can't compare a 70-series troopy (the ultimate overlanding platform) to a van, that can go in a dirt/snow a little bit.

I was more trying to make the point that if people are selling their Ford E series conversations that are built out similar to your troopie for $35-100K, why is $65K so far fetched for people. You are right though that is probably closer to this Jeep build than a van. https://www.expeditionportal.com/fo...rangler-unlimited-–-overland-ultimate.201901/

Like I said above:

I've imported, built and sold a RHD defender 110, it makes no difference except its better for overlanding in US because you see more -- you're always on the scenic side. Makes parking easier. Not a big deal. Nothing obstructs driver's view -- you see everything around you.

On price police lol -- its not very important what you've sold them for. You should probably continue to import more of them?

Driving on the "more scenic" side doesn't add value or rarity to the vehicle in any way, and people usually state what they sold theirs for as a comparison to gauge value.. Look at price comparisons of actual sold vehicles in the US for LHD and RDH Defenders and troopies. RHD 300TDI sells for $28k, LHD sells for $85k+, same goes for troopies, Hilux, fords, etc... When it comes to Defenders and troopies LHD is more desirable because they are much more rare as well.

Driving on the right side in the US actually kinda sucks, if you look at the bigger picture.

I like RHD for traveling.
Thats all that really matters (if you look at the bigger picture). Before it I've had another RHD for last 6 years. It sold for same as LHD.

The only thing that makes defender LHD desirable is that its US NAS spec, which was a limited run, not that its LHD. Thats why 1997 NAS D90 or something with zf auto is worth a lot more then equivalent import (LHD/RHD) even though normal euro spec 300tdi is way better.
