Truck acquired. Let the shenanigans begin.

Finally landed a 1997 BAE Systems M1078. Already a non-runner at 2007 miles (since apparent rebuild), so will be fun to see what ails this truck-size paperweight. Statistically a few months out on the EUC cert to pick it up, but once that's through, looking forward to lugging this thing home and seeing what it'll take to resurrect.

I love the security system, a chained up steering wheel to the seat frame:LOL:

Awesome looking truck, looking forwards to the build

They're fun when they're running but sloooowwww on the highway. I never got mine anywhere close to dirt as it was used solely for military appreciation events (parades, airshows, etc) but I do miss it now that it's gone.

Yep, fortunately for me it goes straight from interstate to dirt pretty quickly around here, so moseying through the backcountry is pretty much SOP in most of Idaho.

You’re gonna have to do something ************** with that turret mount!
Haha yeah, I've been bouncing around some ideas of over-cab storage ideas (among other things).

I grew up in Grangeville so know what you're talking about (although we had no interstate around us). Unfortunately I had mine in TX so it was many miles between spots to hit dirt.

Nice! Was Idaho City area myself, now living in Boise (big city, eh). Gotta love how close the outdoors is here.

Another Boisean, however in Whistler attending a cold, wet, B. C. Overland Rally. Some very unique vehicles here. ARB and WARN showing new items. DG

Realized I've grossly neglected to give you fine gentlemen an update so far. Been digging through this thing the last couple months, and managed to root out most of the general issues, and got to the point it was time to turn it over the shop to get the remaining gremlins addressed, and the drive shafts reinstalled.

Runs and drives like a charm really, for something that's been sitting for so long. Needs the transmission serviced, and a few quality of life tweaks, but otherwise has been quite solid so far.

Lucky for me, my storage yard is next door to an OTR/Farm shop that works on Allisons. The shop I sent it to is also a big diesel fabrication shop that is up the block from there as well, so I'm in good hands so far!
