I put this on my local TTORA board and thought you might like to check it out too. I plan on stuffing a Warn 8000 in there, adding a couple more vertical bars in front of it, and plating most of it. What do you think?

Looks like a good start.

Will be fun to see how it looks when finished, and with the winch on.

Are you going to hook up the winch to your fishing pole, so you can winch in the big fish?

Already have a winch for that, it's my Penn 6/0 :)

Just curious, to all who have winch bumpers of some sort, how thick/heavy was the winch base? Mine is 3/16" and may be kinda thin, I have no idea. I could always add another plate on top of the 2 I have, and it would be uber-strong.
Thanks,

Adding more plate to the winch mount pieces will add more weight than strength. I'd put in 2 to 4 stringers under those plates instead. The taller they are the more rigid the structure will be.

yeah

I was thinking the same thing. Adding 2 gussets on the bottom of each plate should do a lot for strength. I plan on adding some gussets to my tow point too. Thanks for the advice.
