Tucson area trail run on Dec 24th?

A friend contacted me that he finally has his Ford 4x4 up and running...and that he is game for a trail run near Tucson.

I have no plans yet for a location or trail and am open for suggestions and for folks who might want to come along.

So...looking for ideas...

His truck has little modification, mostly good tires, and possibly a touch of a lift.
I'd say "medium" trail...
How's that for a compromise?

Dec 24th I have to work, but Gun Site or Chiva Falls might be some good trails down there. We still need to get a Coke Ovens run up and going! (Land Permit needed)

What's your defination of a medium trail?

Could you give some examples...

I consider the 'Gap easy to medium.

Is there a trail rating system? With dirtbikes we go with:
AA: Semi Pro
A: Hardest
B: Medium
C: Easy

Gunsight would be easy...one section medium.
C-gap I have never done. I always thought it was a tough trail. But that is not based on personal experience, just word of mouth.
C-gap is also right up the road from us...

C-gap is easy. The most difficult (non-optional) section is climbing the hill from Catalina to c-gap proper. I have run the back half in 2wd (north to south).

Chiva Falls can be challenging in a stock vehicle with a inexperienced driver, particularly with IFS. It is more challenging than C-gap, but still, not that difficult. I ran it a couple weeks ago with my mother, and she only had the urge to get out of the jeep 2 or 3 times. There is generally more wildlife along Chiva, and there are a couple options for extending the trip if so desired. It also has many more optional lines to take as the driver sees fit. But it is a much shorter trail than c-gap.

Chimney Rock is pretty tame, with really only one climb that makes you pay attention. Less used than Chiva, therefor it feels more remote. Good wildlife.

There are a number of trails around Helvetia, all pretty tame. This is where the Gunsite pass trip ended.

There are quite a few ranch roads on the south flank of the Sierrita's. All pretty tame. I have seen a herd of deer that numbered in excess of 35 in that area.

I will probably be around that day....unless I am burning some metal for Jeff.

I knew that system but just threw out the "easy" tag on the spur of the moment.
I would say a 2 - 2.5 maximum trail rating would be best for now.
Chris is experienced, but I have never been out wheeling with him...so better safe than body damaged!

My friend, Chris, is committed on the 23rd with his daughter. That's a priority.
So we settled on the 24th...

North West side of Mt Lemmon...above Peppersauce Cave. It is rated at 3.5 now, after the fires and rains.

This book is pretty good to have...if you don't already.

Looks like quite a few trails to think about.
I'm thinking either Rice Peak or Charouleau Gap at the moment. Chris says he's been through C-Gap a number of times, but not in several years at least. I have not.
