Tundra “Stretch or Not To Stretch”

Im looking for “constructive “ thoughts on this idea

The only issue with my 2019 Tundra CrewMax is the shorty short bed 5’8”. It begs the question “why bother”. All my previous trucks were 8’ beds with extra cabs until i bought a cummins ram with 6.6” bed, i made it work but it was never ideal.
Even though my build is somewhat done Im still grumbling about the bed length. So after some research i contacted the guys at “bed stretch.com” to discuss their process and length options.
the cost is the same to stretch either 6’ 5” or 8’ and install a factory bed. It would appear factory.
Or i could forgo a factory bed and go with a third party flatbed/ trey with any length up to 8’. Either way i would then build another wedge camper shell. The desire of the eight foot is that the wedge shell could be flush to the roof with no over roof length, much better aerodynamics.
my current truck configuration

here are a couple 8’ stretched tundras, the length is gained between tire and cab

What's it cost to stretch? Would it be more cost effective and potential future headache saver to sell your truck and get a double cab with an 8.1' bed? Factory warranty, workmanship, etc.

Cost of stretch is $8000 with 8’ bed
tundra double cabs are 5.5 and 6.5 bed so that would eliminate toyota
my guess is that the cost to sell the truck with all mods would be a significant loss. Im afraid to roll up my cost ?
However i would sell the custom wedge camper which would cover the stretch cost

the flat bed cost would be about $11000 including stretch but not a new wedge camper

theres no economical way around this other then sucking it up and keeping what i built

Yup, pay to play.

FYI, the DC cab has an 8' option. All pictures above appear to be stock trucks to me.

But @tennesseewj point is valid on payload. 8'ers get 7,200lb GVWR, but I'm sure that would only get you 1,400lbs.

Those four door w/small beds are passenger friendly but not too practical.
I would have bought an '05/'06 Tundra if was an extracab longbed.

Unless the company you're considering to do a frame stretch is recognized as a manufacturer the payload will be whatever it was when Toyota built it. It's possible they are established as an upfitter or manufacturer (e.g. they make limousines for example) and can re-rate the vehicle but that's something I'd nail down early on.

Yeah, Toyota calls the "Access Cab" Double Cabs, and the cab you've got, "Crewmax."

Look on your driver's door jamb. Sticker should have the actual payload numbers. Most likely, 1,200lbs. Then subtract at least 200lbs if you're going to strech. That doesn't leave a lot for a camper, cargo, people.
1-ton makes more sense here.
