I love the FlipPac for what it is designed for. I can go anywhere my friend with his FJ can go. I think most popup campers look bad, thats me being vain but whatever, right?
Anyway, I wrote a long article on the FlipPac that I posted on here some where... The FlipPac is a cool idea and design, I think it is far superior than a RTT. I built out the inside of the bed to make a little seating/ storage area, Id for sure do that, it makes the bed space usable.
I bought the FlipPac from FRP in CA and found their Customer Service to be fine, and I saved like $2,500 rather than buying it from AT here in AZ. White is the stock color and it matches pretty dang close.
Regrets? Negative, I mean im going to be selling my rig in the next couple months to build a Fuso 4X4. Not because I dont like the FlipPac but because its not what the wife wants... She wants an RV and I called her bluff and raised her a Expedition Rig.
Anyway... The construction on the FlipPac is a let down for sure. But I have used it 4ish times this winter in under 40 degree weather and down to 10 degrees. The foam mattress does not give any insulation. Our first winter camping experience was very cold. So what I found that worked was to put reflective windshield things onto of the foam, then put some kind of air mattress on top of them, and then put a thin foam mattress topper. The first night it was about 10 out and all the heat was sucked out from under use. It sucked hard. The other issue is there is just so much cubic air space that your body heat cant ever warm the air up, so your face and head are always cold. Its tent camping. You have to buy the extra rainfly though, its a must
If I was a single guy or only had a wife and no kids the FlipPac would be freaking perfect, but my 3.5 year old makes it a squeeze. She has to sleep on the storage area over the truck bed. My wife hates tent camping too... oh well.
If you read all that and still think, "I don't care about any of that stuff and that guy is just a **********". Then buy it man. I love it for what it is. And people come up to you in campsites all the time. PM me if you want to buy mine
