Sold my 2012 Tacoma after I found this 2006 Tundra with only 84K miles. Old man truck, with records to prove its servicing. After selling the Tacoma and making money off it, no more truck payments and money leftover after paying cash for this Tundra, which is an all around better truck. You just can't beat the size, best engine Toyota ever made, and the whole back window goes down! Added 5100's all around, Method wheels, 285 K02's, sound deaden, stereo, and exhaust. Love it everyday.

Pretty cool to see some ute beds popping up. I'd be interested to know a bit more about them....what size bed, how difficult to install, etc.

I love the size of the 1st gen Tundra. And I LOVE the rear power window. That reason alone is nearly enough to buy this truck. That's mostly the reason I won't put a shell on the back....Being able to roll that window down on a summer day is the absolute best.

The day I brought it home at 170K miles:

I like jsnow's bed, that's a proper ute tray. Mine is an Aluma 68087. It measures 72" wide. The deck is 87" long. I never measured total length. It fits well on my access cab, I think it would be too narrow for a dc. I feel the price was reasonable at $1800. I had to use a converter and flasher resistors to have functional lighting.

Mounting mine was quite easy as the bed has move able crossmembers. I made some mounts from various sizes of 1/4" angle bolted in the factory locations. Can you post some more pics of that flatbed? That is sweet! And actually seems like it’s reasonably priced.

Certainly, I haven't taken many pictures but here are some older ones when I first installed it. From the back you can see it's just about too small for the truck but the next size was something like 10" wider.

I actually think the size is perfect. Coming from running very tight trails, anything that sticks out past the tires is going to get nailed by rocks and trees. Your tray is right about in line with the cab. The front bar seems a bit narrow perhaps, but annoyingly so.

I wonder how hard it would be to remove the wheel wells on this thing. It looks like the size tire you have on there is about the max it can take. Doesn't look like a 285/75-16 would fit in there.

I agree on the width I wanted one no wider than the cab, the front bar width however is something I still don't like.

The fenders are something I threw on quickly with plans to change later. They are definitely only big enough for a stock size tire. I would like to find or make some front boxes then do something different with the fenders. Ideally making the boxes part of the fender / mud guards like you see on some utes.

Trading in a 2018 f150 on an 06 DC this weekend. Hopefully it’s as clean as it looks in the pictures. Used truck market is crazy and they’re giving me more on trade than I paid for the f150 and I get back into a first gen tundra. I’ve had 3 in the past and regretted selling every one. The one I’m picking up is an 06, 2 owner truck with zero rust and meticulous CARFAX maintenance history.

10 hour drive today to pick it up. It’s in pretty amazing condition and only has 134k on it

Suspension soon. Really considering the archive garage leaf spring pack but what rear shocks should I pair with them? Thinking OME up front as I’ve had good luck with that

It all depends on what you plan on doing with the truck. I'd recommend starting a build thread and getting questions asked in there. Easier for people to find it later, rather than buried in the middle of a different thread.

Really nice truck BTW.
