pressure run depends alot on tyres also; ie how hard the tyre itself is. The XLs on my rig are fairly soft, with big baggy sidewalls, so i have to run them fairly high pressure on highway (around 60psi with only 4-4.5t) to make them stand up. if i was running 19.5" rims, i cant see any reason to go over 45-50, because the tyre itself is so damn hard.
As for temperature, this is easily checked by holding your hand on the sidewall. you will quickly realise if one or all tyres are too soft, generally (i think chocko mentioned this) if you cant hold your hand on the tyre its too hot, and it should be substantially cooler than this anyway.
