U-joint converted Van for sale on the Ebay

I'm with the too much $$ crowd, why would you spend all that time and effort restoring and upgrading a run of the mill cargo van that's got a decent amount of miles on it- for the 72K investment he could have gotten a lot more IMHO. If 7.3L are that valuable I've got one with only 60K that I'll sell someone for $20,000 right now.

I've been thinking about this thread for a while, but haven't had time to go into details. SuperVan did find a good home in CA. This van has received a LOT of attention since being completed in Sept of last year. I think it's a fine example of what most want. (rust free, 7.3, etc) I talk to guys every day that want a van like this, even some members here that have invested time in their own search. So lets look at the basics..... (all of these prices are easily found on the web)

UJOR 6" kit $3590
UJOR stage 2 front axle $4295
Full tranny rebuild with HD converter ~$1500
Rear ARB locker $925
Rear Gears/Brgs $275
Warn Compressor $675
UJOR rear skid system $549
Tires $1300 (qty 5)
wheels $670 (qty 5)
Power steps $1399
Aluminess F bumper $2175 (w/lights & shackles)
Warn 16.5 winch $1699
Diff Covers $320
Aluminess Rear Bumper $2870
H2o pump for OBW $230
Ford HPOP $725
Air Horns $120
Aux Batteries $200
Billet grille $215
T-Case $950
T-case shifter $259
Driveshafts $700

This all adds up to $25K & change, w/o labor, interior mods, or the initial van cost.

Now if this van was converted a year or more ago, I can understand that all of these parts are devalued significantly. That's just the way it goes, and we all understand that about our lovely hobby. It's just not the case with this van.

And that is just the mechanicals. You forgot the interior and electronics.

If it were my build, I would have done things different because I have different needs and tastes--but no one can say it wasn't done well. But whoever got it got a steal if they wanted half the stuff on that van.

I would have loved to buy Super Van and if I had the money I would have done the buy it now deal when it dropped to $44K. I thought it was almost perfect for me inside and out. It is a great van and even if you bought it and changed some things to make it more to your needs or wants it still was an amazing deal for all that UJOR Chris and the owner had done to it. Anyone who has ever done any custom work knows that all of the little things also add up to big money. Even though I would rather do all of that work myself there is no way you could have all of those top self parts plus a nice 7.3 van for much less than what it looks to have sold for on eBay. The good news for anyone that has a 4x4 van is that it sold and for as much as it did. I hope that someday soon the 08 EB I bought this week will be as nice as Super Van is.
