It was a factory DRW so we just added a spacer to change the pattern and add some width. They line up perfectly in the rear now.

I thought you couldn't do both at the same time? Mine is a 1992 so if I understand the pattern is 8 x 6.5. I thought that in the rear I could either add a spacer between the wheels, and keep the factory pattern OR use an adapter to change to 8x170mm, and do without any spacer between the wheels.

Or maybe I'm reading you wrong. Did you use an adapter to change the pattern, which was extra thick to add some width?

I swear I'm not usually so thick, but for some reason the axle end of this conversion is just frying my brain. I'm getting close to point of parts buying to do mine, but I get to the axle portion and it just shuts me down. :(

Good timing for me though, this recent ambo you're working on, because it should all be fresh in your head. I'd like to get with you in a few days and work out what parts I'll need.

OKLAHOMA Van Pic

Well, still learning how to post photos; hope this one comes out! Woohoo! looks like it will post! Anyway I've called this van Either "Vanzilla" or "Plan B" (relates to camping :) ) for years. Heard someone else is using Vanzilla, so I'll probably call it "Plan B" from now on. Can't wait to see what it looks like with a 4" lift and Chris's suspension!

Cheers Guys!

No worries, it can get confusing with these ambos, DRW's, etc. The spacer in the back goes from 8 on 6.5 to 8 on 170mm and is 2" wide. These wheels don't need a spacer in between and they're 8 on 170 so everything is good.

Ok, got it. Those tires, according to the factory specs, are about 11.0" wide (uninflated). I'd like to use H1 take-offs, which are about 12.4" wide. You think these would stuff on a 16.5 dually rim (is there such a thing?) with sufficient clearance? I'm really wanting to stick with a dually set up, but I just can't bring myself to spend $400 plus dollars for a tall skinny tire like those 608zs. Plus they're not quite tall enough anyway. :)

I think that most of the dually rims are too narrow for the H1's.
I did see a dodge dually pickup running them. No idea how they did it! It looked way too wide in the back.

You can put a spacer between the rear wheels, but not recommended if you have already put in a pattern change spacers.

You could get custom dually rims to fit the H1 tires, but that won't save you money unless you plan to burn through a lot of tires.

It is. And here she is outside of the shop for the 1st time! 6" lift, 35" Toyo 608Z tires on American Force 19.5 Classic wheels, Stage 2 front D60 with RSC upgrade, stock D70 rear, 4.56 gears, dual Bilstein 5160's up front with singles out back, OBA system and it will be getting one of our front bumpers.

I did not need to see this - same shape as mine, short/wide box. That wheel/tire combo is pretty nice!
