It's cool..... Now I know, 6" lamps work best.. I can't deal with Hella 500s though, I want BRIGHT!!! :smileeek:

Yep, i hardly use my HELLA's anymore. I just flip the two VisionX6500HID's on on the ARB and i can turn off everything else. The Hella's are nice for when your in tight brush/canyon or you need to check a map in the dark on your hood/setup camp in the dark.

What if you turned the bases of two lamps towards each other, and created a new mount, and centered the pair etc..... Now I have to get the measuring stick back out !!

Later this year, you WILL be seeing a build thread about a guy in SD rolling a complete solid axle 100 series chassis underneath his IFS 100 basically making a UZJ105 like slees "Blueberry" but it will be ALL OEM parts that came like that from the factory! Stock V8 too!

:peepwall:

I'd like to see that!

Never really cared to give it that much thought i guess. There were bigger/better things to worry about. Let me know what you find out, because i'd really like to go HID to make the lights all the same.

I found that if run the tape measure across the light guard, the light guard is about 8" and if you made a special bracket you might get two HID lamps centered on the left, and centered on the right. I will need to have the lamps to actually do any designing and fabricating. Will be a little while before I can slap $400 down on some lights, but when I get to that point and I can make a bracket, I'll see if I can make you a set of brackets as well. Might be a while, so sit tight with the Hellas....

I am guessing you can weld, or have access to a wire welder SoCal???

I can weld boogers.. sure. My welder was sold a few years ago. I have a buddy do my welding now... no more boogers. :sombrero:

I have some issues going on so I got behind a couple of days. However! I got the sub frame painted, and am just waiting on a friend to come by to help me get it on top of the Cruiser. It's not heavy, just awkward, and don't feel like bashing up my truck. Then I can drill holes and bolt it up..... I SHOULD have a finished picture on here by this evening :D

Yeah i remember when i put mine on, i had 2 other people help me because ours is a full length and you can scratch the heck out of the rig if you were to drop it. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

Ok we got the sub frame on I built. It's very stout. I stood on the center cross member and there was no movement at all. I then put my full 205 lbs on one of the side rails, and again no movement. Tomorrow I bolt the Inti together fully, put on the floor and toss it on the cruiser and bolt it to the sub frame. I'll have pics up tomorrow afternoon for sure. The hard part is done. The easy part is the rack itself!

I'm done tonight!

I'll be tightening the last bolts and nuts this evening. However til then, here are pictures of the sub-frame which is the foundation of the rack.

I designed and fabricated the whole sub-frame. It's relatively light weight and super strong. All welding has very deep penetration and everything is welded throughout.

I put about 6 coats of black paint on this sub-frame to help protect from rust and help it stay nice looking for a long time. If you have any questions, just ask.
