Ultimate Knife/Multi-Tool Thread

Leatherman Supertool 300 on the hip, 200 in the glove box and one in my bag along with a Flair, a couple of the original in the survival bag, and finally at least one or two around the house. Have had great service from Leatherman. I messed up blades on two of mine from stupidity and told them so. They repaired, cleaned, and sharpened everything and sent them back to me for the cost of shipping to them which was like $4. I'm lost without one.

Benchmade Mini Griptillian

After carrying a pocket knife / multi-tool of one kind or another nearly every day for the last 20 years this has been my all time favorite. The ergonomics on it are fantastic and it's comfortable to use and use hard. The action and mechanism on the knife are very smooth, precise, and mechanical yet don't get clogged up after years of neglect and very very very (maybe once every 2-3 years) cleaning and lubricating. The blade lock mechanism is wonderful and ambidextrous and the blade can be unlocked without your finger crossing the path of the blade making it much safer to close up.

Market price is ~$80-90 and it's worth every penny.

I've come to REALLY like Benchmade, and in particular their Blue line of knives. Very high quality mass production knives, made in Oregon.

The only thing that might be better than this is the full-size Griptillian. But then, it's a bigger knife. The Mini is perfect for everyday use . . . not too big, but big enough to give you a very good grip on the knife.

I also carry a super tool 300 everyday. Immediately chucked the factory nylon sheath and bought a leather double stack mag holder from Ringler leather in Powell Wy. Perfect. They do make a nice leather sheath specifically for the ST300 but it was tight and I liked the faster access of the open top.

Becker Necker wrapped with 550 cord on the hip or neck. It's sharp, cheap and has a bottle opener and decent sheath. Leatherman Wave and BK2 arent too far way though.

I'll play. I carry an older Gerber. My dad carried it before I got a hold of it. They don't make this exact one anymore, but when this one finally gives up, I'll get one like it. Looks like I need to clean it up some.

I've got that same Gerber in my glove box. I've had it for 17 years and it's still going strong. I also have a Swiss Tool multi-tool that I've had for 15 years. Well, almost. Victorinox replaced it for free last year when a screwdriver blade snapped.

I've carried the similar Gerber Pro Scout 600 for more years than I care to remember. I also have a second 600 that has the tool bit kit as well, that one stays in the Jeep.

I've been carrying a Leatherman Skeletool for about 5 years. Amazing tool that is not too heavy, and the belt clip is essential.

Well, dad's old Gerber gave up the ghost. I shouldn't have been using it- definitely the wrong tool for the job. But I did, and I snapped the blade in half. My fiance gave me a newer Gerber for Christmas. I may look into having dad's repaired, since it's a "Made in the USA" unit. But the new one is pretty sweet, too!

Right hip, Gerber suspension multi tool, like the user above I used to have the original flick gerber multitool, but I broke the pliers, never did get around to shipping it back to Oregon to get it repaired, tried a few other cheaper brands, all garbage then went back to Gerber (never did own a leatherman though, I couldn't find one that I really liked)

Right pocket, Gerber remix pocket knife, love it, dual sided with two blades (one straight one serrated) but thin enough that it doesn't stick out when in the pocket.

Another vote for Gerber Knives products... Made in the USA. Great customer service and extremely durable.

Gerber EZ-Out knife ... great bang for the buck. Carried almost every day for 14yrs. Broke tip of blade trying to use as a pry bar, sent into Gerber, they sent back a brand new knife free of charge. This one is 11yrs old.

Gerber 600 multi-tool ... its been through two deployments, 11yrs old. Severely dulled the file, broken blade, and lost a locking detent/clip. Each time sent back to Gerber and parts were replaced free of charge.

I have become quite attached to my little Leatherman Style. Small and lite...it is with me always. For adventures...I would pick other tools specificaly suited for the task. But on a daily basis this is what I carry. Wasn't sure I would like scissors versus pliers...but I do find the scissors more handy! Pliers on multi tools I have found dubious at best...
