We plan on having an insulated blanket as you suggest, we lots of 50mm insulation left over, we will make a nice cover for it and it can stay under the mattress when not in use. We use Velcro to attach things to the carpet, works great, so will just have a few tags of Velcro to hold it in place.

I spent 16 hours in the rear of a Series 3 Land Rover in Kenya, on some of the worst roads in the world. The seats were facing sidewards and just a bare bench - no padding, getting car sick was the least of my worries, I was hanging on for dear life most of the time. My wife and her friend did not have any problems on the hour trip, but I expect anyone prone to car sickness in a normal car would be worse off in the back of the Unimog on rough roads.

Always had a soft spot for Mogs! Really nice build and a credit to you... great colour coordination and fit out inside - Look forward to seeing some pics of you driving the Mongolian steppe...

cheers - Justin www.globatrol.com

My wife has to get her Learner Permit for a truck licence before she can start to drive it. She will need to be able to drive, just in case something happens to me in a remote place.

I still think you should give it to me and build another one for yourself. It would be so much better second time around ;-)

Don't know if you have, or need such a solution, but I wonder how to design it. Probably some sort of soft insulated "blanket"
fastened with zippers or something, that you just unzip and pack together and store elsewhere while driving?
A fixed door construction of some sort is probably very difficult and inconvenient to apply?
.

http://www.silverscreens.co.uk/ do nice ones, custom make and I've used them twice now. Good stuff to keep the glass from heating the interior in summer too.

That's a good idea, like the outside one. My wife made one for the inside, exact shape of the windscreen.

Great completion-design & execution.
Few builds come to mind while I'm out doing other things & not just lurking through the most recent posts here, yours, I came back to see.

Hi Iain,

Awesome to see the Mog on the road. If you are anything like we were on our first trip you couldn't wipe the grin off your face!
I would love to see it in person some time bring the 6x6 defender over, see what ideas I can "borrow" and have a chat about Aus/world travel plans if that is okay with you?

Cheers,

Dave & Abbey
