With young kids, going on camping trips and excursions that last 3 days or more can prove a challenge. Socks and underwear as well as t-shirts being the biggest culprit. This might offer a good solution. I am keeping my eye on it for our family. Might mean we could pack less and stay longer!

Hummm... Not quite available yet however (see below). I used one similar in the past which was hand cranked which worked well - I think this is similar with the foot pedal instead which might increase spinning speed but also might add complexity and perhaps a potential for failure...

when I lived in Central America I learned to use a old fashioned wash board :) amazed it worked pretty good

unless I was in a trailer a wash board might pack down quite a bit better ?
even just a rock on a river with no soap or anything till its mostly clean then use a touch of camp soap to freshen it then rinse worked when I was younger and we did extended stuff for a month at a time on our bicycles

when we did extended 2-3 week camping we seemed to have to go to town to resupply and would hit a coin op place :)

those look pretty cool though but look HUGE to pack unless one had a trailer

I just happen to have a trailer! I have seen guys on serious expeditions take igloo coolers with water and soap mounted to the front of the truck. They let the washboard road do the job of clothes washing! :)

ahhahahah that igloo thing reminded me of this :)

a small island I lived on a guy who lived out of a old ice cream truck :) and used marbles he shaved down to replace his teeth :) to say he was a character was a understatement :)

he had this old beater car and had rigged a washing setup on the back that his exhaust went through to help heat the water :) and he would drive around to wash his clothes :)
the front hood he had this screen covered the whole hood on that opened up and would close down with another screen over the top when done washing he would lay his clothes out and drive around to dry them :)
somehow the idea that putting the clean clothes on the hood on dirty roads was not really doing the job but then again he had marbles for teeth :) I kinda wonder if he had done his own brain surgery

I wish I had pics :) but was quite unique :)
the ice cream truck was insulated though :) the one compartment that was long width of the rig was his sleeping are the other parts he had to hold his possessions
but the truck had not moved in like maybe 20 years so was just a shell basically

For the size of it, small to wash and big to store, I also think that a bucket and soapy water would be as good.

But then again, we are here cause we like to be out and also see what is available to us!

I've got a couple of systems - one is the Wonder Wash (similar to the OPs product, but uses a hand crank), and the other is a plunger type tool that one uses with a 5 gallon bucket. While both work well, I would recommend the latter when on the road. A 5 gallon bucket has multiple uses (I'll let your imagination run wild with the possibilities).

I agree - for road use the bucket / plunger is more useful (at least the bucket is...) but the "wonder washer" has the benefit of being able to spin the clothes to get out the detergent water and rinse water - how well has the one you have worked as far as that goes? The bucket washer requires ringing the water out which is hard on the clothes and the majority of the work involved.

The clothes still come out soaking from the Wonder Wash, and one still has to wring them out by hand. The operation is such: load clothes, add measured amount of hot water based on load size, add detergent. Close up Wonder Wash (tight seal on the lid) and spin it around for a minute or so. Empty wash water, add rinse water, seal, and spin. This usually does it (but sometimes a second rinse is necessary). Wring clothes out and hang dry.

did some looking at some wash boards that were portable
and found this

http://www.thescrubba.com

seems pretty cool actually
http://www.amazon.com/Scrubba-The-ScrubbaTM-Wash-Bag/dp/B00BUI7HFC

figure amazon return and the 100+ reviews

then thought HEY I have a couple dry bags ?
and if I got something like this
http://www.amazon.com/Quality-Silic..._sbs_hg_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=1W9ZEEYV18MN8KA4VHQK
or
http://www.amazon.com/Ioven-Silicon..._sbs_hg_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1W9ZEEYV18MN8KA4VHQK
I use this dish dry silicone that is even larger ? not sure if the ribs would be to big
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002UTG7WY/ref=twister_B0092ZCVY2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

and put inside sure it might move a touch ? but hmmmmm
I could try this design out for free ?
if it works could get a dedicated dry bag maybe even one with a window for under $20 easy and $10 for the silicone sheet ?
my main reason is unless they redesigned the valve ? that seem like the only weak spot and I can roll the air out of a dry bag good enough

dual use my dry bag and just pick up a silicone wash board kinda thing ?

I would have ordered one of those Yirego units but my wife didn't want to wait a year to get it so we ordered a Panda which is due to arrive soon. We decided to try washing our clothes at home this way as our cabin is small and does not have provisions for a washer/dryer. That scrubba looks pretty cool too and will give me an excuse to buy a dry bag although it probably would be best for use on the road or camping.

The Scrubba is an awesome invention. I met the inventor last summer at the Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City. Really humble guy.

5 gallon bucket and a toilet plunger. use a gamma lid for the lid, replace the one with a hole for the plunger, to a sealed one for when your are on rough roads. works great. I cut 4 holes in the plunger. highdesertranger
