Unusual and/or Derelict Vehicles/Machinery

Somebody in another thread suggested this would be a good topic. I agree. So here goes...

I have no idea about the story behind this beast. I suspect it was used in the building of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. It sits along the Steese Highway in Fox, AK (about 8 miles north of Fairbanks). I can only imagine how it was back in its glory days and where the heck it has been in its day:

I saw this snow vehicle on the way to Montana to buy a VW Thing. Can't remember exactly where it was....but I pulled off the highway for gas and there it was across the street from a gas station. I should have towed it home!

This late 40s - early 50s Autocar was abandoned in a yard between the railroad tracks and the highway near a house I lived in out of college in the 80s. Probably scrapped -- or buried -- now, but it had a great patina of age in the day.

There's a whole mess of those things parked right past the North (Mammoth) gate at Yellowstone NP. They use them to move people around in Winter.

Commonly called a "roll-i-gon" up on the North Slope. They have big balloon tires and don't necessarily need an ice road to travel on. used to haul supplies and men out to drilling rigs and seismic crews, etc. Top speed of about 45 mph which seems like twice that on the slope!

Here is an off-road vehicle that requires no gas... just a trailer full of wood and water...

Taken at a tractor jamboree in WY. There were some incredible rigs there; wish I had taken more photos.
