Upgrading my mobile radio

On Friday, I ordered a brand new Kenwood TM-V71A and Larsen NMO2/70 antenna.

It's going to be just a slight bit better than my Baofeng UV5R sitting in a cup holder.

Good plan on the upgrade of the radio. You should be happy with it. It's a solid radio and a good antenna choice to boot. Much better than a HT and you won't need to worry about charging it.
