URGENT: Is this a lot of rust?

My 2011 4runner has a bit more rust. I do live in upstate NY though.

Your vehicle looks normal given its year...though your geographic location may also have an affect on that.

In general, your vehicle looks fine...nothing out of the ordinary. There are ways to clean and protect rusted undersides...if you search on youtube you can find some pretty decent DIY videos.

If the paint is bubbling - that's bad
If the steel is flaking and delaminating - that's bad
If you can stick a screwdriver through it - walk (at rather brisk pace) away, unless of course you're looking for a project vehicle.

The pictures look like common surface rust as previously stated the coatings are typical thinner in those areas, that's just road wear.

Yeah I ended up resorting to going interstate. The vehicle I wanted just wasn't coming up.. and if it did it disappeared before I could get to view it. Luckily this one popped up and I've been in communication with the owner. He is holding it for me until I get there on Tuesday to make the payment and collect her.

Looks clean to me. I bet this toyota has never seen salt on roads.
