Using your Rig's radio as a campsite stereo?

I must have misread your post as I thought you were asking about leaving it running while you weren't there.

As for at camp, I do occasionally depending on what I'm doing. I'll put some tunes on while cooking or sometimes when I'm working on the computer (if I bring it). I try not play it loud enough that others can hear unless we're having a bonfire or something that calls for louder tunes. :)

"music"

Please Please If you must play music, play your music softly. The base from a sound system can literally carry for MILES!!

One of the most difficult things to find now is quiet. I understand that many urban people get a bit nervous if there is not some sort of noise present but we desert dwellers strongly prefer QUIET!

We often travel to very remote places only to hear the boom of someones "music" from a mile or more away. I can only relate it to the stories of the jungle drums driving folks mad.

I can't think of anything I hate more than camping somewhere and have someone pull up and take out a radio or TV. That's why I rarely camp anywhere where there are any other places nearby to pitch a tent.
I've never really understood the need to have constant human generated ambient noise.

LOL guys...well I hate to say it...but in the middle of the Mojave...primitive camping it...I'm gonna turn on the tunes and relax. Again...just looking at music from different perspectives. For myself, someone who is a musician, Saxophone, I wouldn't classify music as human generated ambient noise. I think it's something greater and more meaningful then that.

The thread sounds like the sky is falling, as if KISS, QUEEN, and Arrowsmith, will be performing at the camp site.

Like I would choose this...

Over This...

Don't get me wrong, I like music, grew up in a musical family and both my sons are very talented. The "ambient noise" meant anything that wasn't appropriate for the surroundings. And of course that is in the ear of the beholder.

I just don't feel that everything I do needs "theme music"

It always reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Peter gets his own theme music.

LOL...that was a good episode. When I'm out in the wilderness sometimes I think about the moaning deer episode.

I'll listen to music sometimes if I'm in the mood, but never if in a developed campground, and if I'm in a campground and I hear music from someone else, I'll go over and tell them (politely) to turn it down...it's a free country, if you want to listen to music in the woods, go for it! ...but don't make me listen to your music if I want some peace and quiet :)

Yeah, I posted a link to the video, but then deleted it because when it was done the next videos it was suggesting were porn. Obviously not youtube. lol
If anyone wants to see it google "peter griffin gets his own theme song". It's on www.flicklife.com, just don't go there from work. :Wow1:

I'm purdy sure the OP wasnt asking about campsite etiquette? common sense and courtesy rules here.

My 874runner with a decent stereo will run most of the day if not loud, cranking it Glamis style it will cutoff after a couple hours.
My new tundra with stock stereo will last all day w/o issue if not loud.

Usually we play our XM for evening drink and dinner hours only, unless i'm camping in a crowded area- which we avoid. If neighbors can hear conversations or quiet music, we are too close.

Very true...I was not asking about etiquette...I do have common sense not to blast it in an established campground. Next trip I do intend to put on some nice music as we eat dinner and drink around the campfire.
