Fairplay CO - A flavor all its own...

Rolling into Fairplay late day was a quiet affair. The streets seemed empty for such a nice Saturday evening. I stopped by Even In the End Liquor Store for a dark brew to accompany shredded pork burritos. They shared a parking lot with Yer Flies Open - Bugs & Bullets. Of the few locals I met, they were all friendly and about as quiet as the town. Possibly they smelled a tourist in me and hoped I’d find my way out as easy as I came in; as not to attract anyone else to their secret slice of heaven.

Can these passes be made hauling a popup camper? Not worried about clearance more about switchbacks....

Thanks.

A high clearance 4WD truck/SUV will suffice for most of the trails pictured in this thread. Adding a trailer to the mix may present difficulties and/or hazards. I’d definitely check in with Portal members that have traveled the backcountry of Colorado with adventure trailers in tow.

You COULD take a pop-up on most of those passes (except maybe Pearl Pass due to the shelf road) but it would be scary & dangerous. I wouldn't recommend it. Please consider alternate routes.

The Taylor Resevoir area would be a good place to base camp for MANY of these passes.
