Vertx Pants: My new favorites

I have not noticed the pet hair thing at all. Maybe it depends on the type. I am only around very short haired terriers and it does not stick to Vertx pants any more than it does to my Mtn Khakis.

I bought a pair of Vertx to test, and a pair of MK OMP's as well. I like the Vertx, and love the cargo pocket design, since I hate the look of most cargo pocket pants...

However, my Vertx wore a hole in the back pocket within 2 weeks of wearing them, and nothing ever goes back there but my money clip. Maybe it was something else, but for now, I question the durability and abrasion resistance of the fabric.

I typically wear Carhartt jeans, and I have pairs that are 5 years old or more that have no sign of wear in the same pocket. I'm baffled.

I just ordered a pair from the Vertx site. They are $10 more that USCAV, but they offer odd waist sizes (like 35"). I have to learn to accept the fact that a 34" is just too tight for me anymore.

^ I've come to accept the same thing...........wore a 34 since highschool, I've just grown a little too much for comfort in a 34 anymore but 35" is nearly impossible to find

They are awesome except, they are the worst material i have touched in terms of attracting hair. Pretty much nullifies them for pet owners unless you use a hair slick to brush them every 5 minutes.

I now carry a hair slick in my pocket. Just not sure i'll buy many pairs because it is a major hassle.

No issues in cold or warm weather. Tested up to 90 and humid.

They feel close to the blackhawk contractor grade but more flexible and light.

I agree with this totally. Nice pants, but I notice there's some sort of static cling going on with these pants. If it's not my cat's hair, its lint or other stuff in the house. Doesn't happen on my other pants which are all cotton. Must be the synthetic material that is part of the pants.

Only other slight issue is I don't like wearing my Benchmade folder in my right pocket because of the 'hidden' pocket's zipper. The zipper interferes a bit with the knife and at times makes noise when I walk.

I ordered a pair after reading this thread. I like them allot. The fit is great and they allow full freedom of motion, while being immune to plumbers disease. I love that I can get the elusive 35" waist. The fabric does pick up crap as mentioned. I'm hoping a few washes will tone that down but I'll be just fine putting up with this minor issue if it doesn't. Before I buy any more I will be using and abusing them for a year or so, with an eye towards how well they wear and repel stains. If they still look good enough for a client meeting at work after a year in the woods, deserts and mountains, I will have found my new favorite pants at long last.
Man I love this forum...
On the vendor: I did get them from LA Police Gear as well as a few other things. They had the 35" size and a good price + a %10 off sale. I also ordered a pair of their house brand mil spec BDU pants for $16. That's a great deal to be sure but they turned out not to fit and their return policy sucks with an $8 restocking fee after you pay return shipping, so it's not worth returning them. All in all the sucky return policy and an annoying back order on a knife I ordered as well. I'm on the lookout for a better source for next time I buy Vertex.
Who ells sells them at the 50$ price point and carries all sizes?

FYI: Fit Changed

If you are going to buy these, look at the Vertx tag and if it's a white cardboard tag it will fit more snug than the grey tag on the back pocket. Tried a 34W 30L with the grey tag and it fit fine, but wrong color. Picked up the right color, but with the white cardboard tag and it was tight. I exchanged for a 35/30 and was told to expect some shrinkage. I think the white tags are newer.

Vertx just came out with a new lighter version of their pants. It is a 6.5oz material instead of the 8oz material. Also supposed to retain the color better. I have not tried them yet, but will probably order a pair up and post a review. They are basically 65/35 which is the same as some of the BDU's.

I love these pants.. I'm slowly replacing my 5.11 for them. I wish they had the rear pockets like my 5.11 TacLight. but they are very comfortable pants and seem to work well in deffrent weather

Mustard23,

Are you saying you love the original Vertx or the new lighter version. I have not been able to find any feedback on the new lighter pants.

I'm not sure ones I got they are pretty thick, but they give have a lot of room when you squat down in them. also the back is up higher then the front so no plumbers crack and they don't ride low with a lot of gear in the pockets or belt. For tactical review the cargo pockets have smaller pocket made to hold M4/AR-15 magazines so you can have 4 magazines in your cargo pockets pretty comfortable. Unlike what I am wearing today witch is the 5.11 covert cargo that the pockets are for smaller hand gun magazines and i can fit 4 magazine these top pockets and zip them shut. Right now i am torn what pants I like better the 5.11 Covert Cargo or the Vertx. I like the cut of Vertx and but the pockets on the 5.11 If i was caring a rifle that had bigger magazines then the Vertx. But I like the zippers on the 5.11. I have been upside down in rigs before and the zippers are nice to keep everything in your pockets. Also I am now operating in colder areas so thicker pants are a little nicer.

Just came back from a week in Peru and the Vertx were my go to pants. I too wish they had a zipper on at least one back pocket, but overall, these things have done great! I'll probably pick up a pair of phantoms, too. Great pant and the hidden zipper pocket came in very handy.
