Video Camera for Canoe Trips

Hey guys I am headed to the Boundary Waters this summer and wanted to take a video camera to record the trip. I was thinking about getting a Go Pro Hero 2 HD outdoor but thought I'd see if anyone had a better suggestion. I am not wanting to spend more than about $300-350 on it and would love to be able to mount it to the canoe. Thanks for the help.

I don't think there is a better alternative than GoPro as lightweight POV cameras.. GoPro by far has the superior image quality of all the small POV cameras.

If you are looking for options, I have been using StuntCams.com cameras on our Fire apparatus. Definition / resolution , audio and image stabilization have been outstanding. A very good low cost alternative. I can not say which might be your best choice. The waterproof helmet cams might be an option if you need a white water camera?

They have been good to work with. I just received a grant and will now have them in all our apparatus.
