Hi I`m new here and lives in Norway Europe, but just wanted to show you guys my project / expedition vehicle.
The truck is a 1975 Volvo C 303, in military terms its called TGB 11. It has portal axles an locks on both front and rear axle, its awsome in most terrain, it has a ground clearence on 42 cm / 16,53 inches with 36 inch IROC tires :)
My plan is to remove the original B30 six cylinder gasolin engine and mount a Mercedes OM 606 or 603 six cylinder diesel engine and a 5 speed TGB 20 gearbox to get lower rpm at highway use.
I will also cut away a section of the roof and build a Flip pac like roof to gain more space and to get a queen size bed inside the roof section. 4 seats and a table will also be fitted along with som extra storage space, drawers etc.
It will also be fitted with a sink, some propane burners and a refridgerator.

Hope you liked my rig...More info on this project will come soon...

I will try to make a pop up roof solution like this, does anyone have any experience with this solution? Is it sturdy enough in windy and snowy conditions?

You might reconsider the flip pac type roof tent and do one which goes up with a hard roof. Much better in rain, snow and wind - which I hear Norway gets a bit I hear.

You should also check out the other website which focuses on c303s & pinzgauers - www.real4x4.com as there are a couple of c303 builds very similar to your idea.

Thanks I will check it out :)... hmm... mabye you have a point there... I like the Flip Pac design beacause of the extra space you get with the bed inside the roof... but I have also considered the hard roof solution...

I've seen popup tops which have the bed connected to the roof so when you first open it you have lots of space to stand - then the bed can be lowered for sleeping.
