Wadi Khadra, Saudi Arabia

Its not all desert and dunes out here. We managed to find a nice watering hole, with some palm trees amid the deserts on a recent trip we took. It was a short 200km drive north of Jeddah. We had a 200 series Landcruiser, a FZJ71 (topless), a FZJ74 (fiberglass top), a FJCruiser, and a Nissan Patrol GQ.

The view once we got to the bottom of the Wadi was spectacular.

The meeting point.

Once off the highway, there are a bunch of trails/washboard tracks with forks in the road. Its impossible to find the trail that leads to the Wadi without GPS

The decent was narrow, steep, and rocky. You wouldnt want to be here during a flash flood.

What greated us at the bottom of the Wadi.

The owner of this rig rolled over, hence the lack of roof. Come summer time he'll no doubt be putting a soft top on.

Great pics! I love the FZJ74 its--uh--mini! :bike_rider:

Yeah them 70 series Landcruisers are really popular here in Saudi. The FZJ74 only came in limited numbers, and its very very difficult to find clean ones on the market.

The most popular models of the 70 series are the 2 door petrol (FZJ71) and the pickups (FZJ79). In fact I cant imagine they sell more of those anywhere else in the world than here. Despite diesel only costing $0.29/gallon, people still prefer the petrol engines (petrol goes for $0.59/gallon).:smiley_drive:

Thanks for the kind comments. I'll be posting up some more trip pics later in a seperate thread.

I'm in total agreament, great pictures, great scenery and great rigs... Living in the desert, it's always great to find and explore the little oases. There are a few around here...

Thanks for the kind comments guys. Saudi is about 1/3 the size of the US, so there is plenty for us to see. Need more time off work!

It snowed yesterday in Tabuk, in the northern region, near the Jordanian border. Its too late to make a trip as its probably melted by now, but at least we can look at the pics and dream:Wow1:

(I did not take these pics)
