Warn can suck it!

If I'm looking at the right thing, it's like a 30 dollar part available even at Tractor Supply

And as someone else said, next time, ont tell them it's on the [Dodge], just tell them is an M1200.

That is for a single solenoid, the complete controller (pn#38844) is NLA, so the option is to find a NOS on eBay (or the likes), or buy the solid state controller (pn#83668) for $380 (which is what I did).

hover for PN

Ah. Sorry. Your original post said solenoid/ solenoid kit. This looks to be a bit more than that. Sorry you had to shell out that much for a 20 year old truck and winch, that s u c k s.

At that price. Would it have been worth it to get a new winch?

Scratch that. I see a guy on here named scotty carlile has a new one for sale at 2 grand. I imagine direct is even more $

Warn has been a supporter of ExPo for years, and as a long time member here, I hate bashing a company that has given to the community. That said, I had reason to call Warn Industries today for some very basic info. The “customer service” rep I spoke to was beyond unreasonable, and bordered on vindictive and downright rude.
First rule of customer service is hang up and call again and get a different person. Now small service depts you may get same person, so try another day or have someone else call.

So there you have it. Warn will definitely NOT help you if they don’t have to. Absolutely the worst customer service ever. Screw those guys!
One bad experience does not define a company.

It was me who said that, and I’m the OP. I already ordered a complete set of 4 solenoids (picking them up from post office this morning) from an independent source. If it doesn’t solve the problem, I’ll just bite the bullet and order the solid state controller.

Is that PN for the M12000? Wireless remote?
That is for a 'wired' remote control (PN 38626). But I use mine with their wireless remote PN# 90287, and it works great. I like to have the option to use the wired control as a fail-safe type connection. I store the wireless remote with the battery remote, and a second battery in a seal pack in the little pouch I keep it in.

Well, I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that the 4 new solenoids set it straight. I’m fine with my wired remote. My multi-mount winch has a wireless remote if I need to be “untethered”.

You might see if you have a local Warn repair shop (approved or wildcat). I bought a Iron Cross bumper for my F250 that had a M12000 in it. Basically I bought the bumper and the winch was a 'freebie'. My local tire shop that is also a 4x4 shop is an authorized Warn dealer. They put a new controller on it and as the motor was on it last leg they installed a 'built' motor. The manager of the shop races King of the Hammer, so I guess all of the race cars even have modified 'high-performance' winches (I did not know that was a thing), and rebuilt the gearbox. Basically a 'hi pro' new winch for the cost of the controller ($300) and the motor ($300) <those are their prices they passed along to me>.
