Walt! Amazing job. Oh how I wish I had a garage/work area. Living in an apt doesn't allow much for building stuff. I'm coming up there and finding your set up and then you can build another one for yourself

Thanks for the flattering words. Of course you're aware that WA is a CWP state right?:costumed-smiley-007

The basic idea was to construct a 3-piece easily removed bench storage system.
I wanted to keep it fairly simple with 2x3 framework and 1/2" birch plywood paneling. (Thanks for the inspiration TacoDoc.)

WOW, thanks for the update! That is exactly what I am planning to build, except with all 3 pieces being the same height. So glad to see yours in action rather than an image in my head. I wasn't worried, but now any doubt has been removed.

I can't stop looking at the pics. Such a nice job. Did you draw up plans for the build? If so do you feel like sharing? It looks as though the ledge of the pieces tucks under the shell overhang on the sides. Any problems removing your set up when you want to take it out?

How do you like that toilet vs a PETT style? Yours seems perfect for your application. I have a PETT knockoff which has worked well when I've used it. Tomorrow is my pickup/install day for my FRP Flippac.

Plans? A rough sketch at best, which was recycled long ago.
I "can" share a couple important things to consider...

Test fit all the equipment/gear you plan to carry as you frame your design, or at least know thier dimensions.
A very noteworthy item with '05+ Tacomas: the front width of the bed is wider than the back. This will be very evident when you have your Flippac mounted tomorrow. Another good piece of advice (taken from the owner of a certain silver ATFP here on ExPo), seal up everything that takes on dust, water, and drafts.

Yes, all the outer framing tucks snugly under the interior overhang of the ATFP. I designed this in conjunction with the two lag bolts and two turn buckles to keep the system safely anchored to the truck bed.
Installation/removal of the three pieces is a simple one person job.

The Hassock toilet is a little small for me (6' 1", 220 lbs) but I make it work.
It's more of a convenience for my wife and 4yo daughter. Can't comment on the PETT. I've never used one.

BTW cheers in advance for your new FP.

What a fantastic build for your FP! Very impressive, I always like seeing what folks do with these.

Looks like you've incorporated alot of smart ideas and executed it beautifully. Nicely done

The sliders for your sliding table top, are they drawer sliders or what are they? Do you know what they are rated for? And where did you get them? You just presented a much simpler and functional solution to a design problem I was having.

Also, since the table top slides forward, have you considered having a flat surface directly under the sliding portion? As in, you slide the table top forward, and there is another table directly under it where the table top normally resides. Seems like it would double the size of your table top. Don't know if I made it easy to understand what I'm talking about.

Nevertheless, I think you just solved a problem I was having ... so thank you!

I think having the table top slide forward as is makes opening a fridge possible if you are inside the FP in inclement weather vice needing the window/gate down to open the fridge slider from outside.

Guessing :coffee:

Glad I could be of service to your mental image.

Absolutely correct. With the table in the open position the fridge can be accessed from inside, the side windoor, and from the tailgate area once the rear panel is removed.

They are drawer sliders. Rating unknown, but seem to have plenty of lateral strength for the application. Purchased at Home Depot.

Thanks for the info WASURF63 !! And the fridge is under the table slider, ingeniously perspicacious. The sliding table top can make quite a few things possible for different applications.

Thanks, please post some more pics and details on your setup as I am looking at options and ideas now for my own camp water solution :)

Here ya go, from top L > R ...

1. For gravity fed operation/draining the 15 gl tank:

2. 3/4" male from tank to (3/4" female > 3/4" barbed brass fitting), connected to approx 2' of 5/8" I.D. braided hose via hoseclamp, drilled pssgr sd of bed for pass through.

3. Gave the hose a slight turn to avoid crimping the water supply and connected via hose clamp.

4. Used a sprinkler valve (easier for my wife to operate) and 3/4" barbed fittings threaded into the inlet/outlet. It's secured to existing frame holes via u-bolts.

5-6.The outlet hose reaches just past the rear tire/fender and has a keeper/clip secured with the existing fender well screw mount. It's protected with a snug fitting PVC cap.

7-8. The center "black" cap is the tank fill and I carry a 15' garden hose w/nozzle to fill from any potable water source. The "black" supply hose is connected to the 12v - 1gpm pump, which runs to a T-connection (not pictured very well). The "white" hose w/shower sprayer is plugged into the pressure fitting on the "T", while the remaining end is capped.

9. I spliced in a remote switch and attached it to the windoor frame for easy access/operation. This saves actuating the factory switch buried in the trunk behind the tank on every use. Power connection is via a fused 3-recepticle junction wired to the main battery for now. NL power pack upgrade to follow asap.

10. The end result, a water storage tank and cold camp shower. Total cost, about $125.
(I would like to modify this system to work with the Zodi Hot Tap HP).

Water pump?

What brand pump did you use? I like the set up. Northern Tool no longer has that tank, that i could see. They do have an inexpensive sprayer tank 16 gal for $39.99.
