Well, since this post I've tried 2 Seiko autos. Like the look & comfort. But neither kept time well. Loosing as much as 4minutes in a week.
Of course, bought 'em used. Maybe that's why the last guy sold them.
Not worth fixing.!
So, I sold 'em to the next sucker
That said - has any one here seen or bought the "SZANTO" brand.

4 minutes in a week is within the range for a cheap automatic. Bought this one in 82, still runs fine, loses about 15 seconds a day, never been serviced.

But if accuracy is your thing, just buy quartz and forget about it. I have a Seiko Kinetic diver, never even think about it. It's accurate enough that the National Institute of Standards and Technology calls me once a day to check their atomic clock. :sombrero:

If you dont want to spend a bunch, I picked up a G Shock off amazon, $28 and it keeps perfect time.

This aint no hard choice, theres hundreds of options for less than $300

I bought this $80 dollar casio from Walmart after I won a good chunk from the casino in niagara falls ca one night in February. The time is still spot on with my phone, the dates still right, the bezel spins good not loose, the hands do glow. though they don't hold much, any light source recharges them. I like analog incase I do lose or break my compass I still have somthing, stainless, and it's water resistant to 10 bar though I've only had it down 10 feet .

It only comes off when I'm in bed, It's been scraped and bashed putting the drivetrain in my jeep, building decks and fences, installing fire sprinklers, pouring concrete and it still looks almost like the day I bought it except for some paint on the band. It works when I travel, when I wheel, when I camp, when I work AND when I need to dress up proper. To me $10 a month was well worth it considering it should make it for sure another 8 unless I lose it.
All that being said I do like the rubber band but I have been looking for a leather one to replace it just to make it look more classic

I've got a nice, simple field watch from Minuteman Watch Co. which is a micro brand in the US. it's a nice watch and they give some of their profit to veterans organizations, a win win! I don't need a watch that looks like it could calculate orbital re-entry trajectories, just one that tells time.

How do you rotate usage? How many watches in rotation & how often?
I have boxes of watches that just don't make it into the mix. Batteries go dead or autos don't make it to the wrist or winder. I keep thinking I'll get to 'em - some day!

If it will be a really abusive environment I wear the G-Shock, for others, it just depends on my mood of the week. I normally wear one for a few days at a time. If it's one of the older ones from the 30's and 40's, they get left at home on rainy days.

I never did get a winder. I 'loaned' my father my spare auto and he has used it for the last two years. My alternate is a quartz so it doesn't care if it sits for a few days/weeks

Got my Steinhart serviced while in Switzerland... the service and timing almost cost as much as the watch did.

Good luck with that one. I bought one last week, brought it home and I couldn't adjust the date. I brought it right back and tested a different one before taking it home and it failed as well as 2 more. I found one that worked and exchanged mine for it. Friday the crown fell out. At $60 (msrp) I was pissed. I ended up with a Casio Tough Solar and love it so far. I loved the simplicity of the Timex, but I will never buy another one.

I loved my first Timex Expedition. It lasted about five years and finally bit the dust. (Plus the plastic band cracked and couldn't be replaced, so I added a NATO band, which was great.) Regardless, the movement would get very slow, so I figured it was the battery—it wasn't. I replaced the battery and it had no affect on it. I had paid $50 for the watch. However, since I wanted another watch that I didn't mind getting dirty, scratched, and generally beat up, I bought another Timex Expedition very similar to the one The_Dude posted. I got it on clearance for $30. So far, so good. I've already put a scratch in the glass face, but so be it. So far, it's survived traveling through the U.S., New Zealand, and Australia, so let's hope this one does better than the last one.

I've only really been wearing watches for the last 2 years. Previously had a Timex, no idea what model beyond that it was analog, but it was a victim of water intrusion and died. Replaced it with a Seiko SKA 703 that I wear every day. Only comes off when I'm sleeping or working in the garage or yard. Really like that I will never have to open it up to replace a battery. Its understated and just works. Only drifted about 12 seconds between when I bought it in May and reset it when DST ended.

This is my daily; Omega Seamaster Professional Planet Ocean XL.

I picked up the PO after my first "big" contract a few years back. (Don't be fooled though.... It is quite large; 45.5mm :Wow1:, but I also have tiny wrists.... ) Growing up watching James Bond trump around the silver-screen rockin' Omegas made it a quick decision. I didn't want the XL version but the shop had it in stock, and I was impatient with money burning a whole in my pocket. Plus the XL versions are a bit more rare than the regular 43mms so I'm told. The PO has been a great watch.

I also rock a Citizen Black Hawk or Seiko tuna on the weekends or if I fear for the Omega's safety :bike_rider:.

After exactly—to the day—four months, my new Timex Expedition broke. Purchased 7/22/16, the watch's date can now not be adjusted and is stuck on "13" (is that a sign?). I brought it back to Macy's (an outfitter to many an overlanding enthusiast), who gladly took it back and refunded me $30 American dollars. The woman working there said to me, and I quote, "Timex doesn't seem to be like they used to; they're pretty much living off of their name these days."

I am officially done with Timex and will gladly spend more money on something that will last longer than four months.

Takes a licking, keeps on ticking ... in the dumpster.

Yes, I hope she does, too! I really liked mine, but now that's two that crapped out on me. I am not wearing it every day, either. It's my camping/traveling/working-in-the-yard watch.

Very interesting.There are only 2 things about this that I do not love (everything else is pretty spot on). AC charging only and no heart rate monitor. Other than that I am sold on this. Now just need to convince the wife I need one for Christmas!?
