^^^I agree, that's why I suggested some spray on bed liner, those planks will trap more dirt/water/mud that you think.

That decking looks nice, but if it were me, I wouldnt. It sounds like once this is down the way you're doing it, it's pretty much down for the duration. Without pulling screws and yanking up boards you're never going to know whats going on under there and I can just about guarantee, POR-15 or not, rust finds a way. I'd find a less troublesome to remove floor covering so you can periodicaly pull it to keep an eye on things. After all, you may have slathered on POR up top, but whats going on on the underside of that floor?

+1 the planks look good, but I think they will be a nightmare to keep clean and dry underneath.

I like your flooring. I use the big foam flooring puzzle pieces. They are easy. The best part is that they can be removed once a year to sweep out all sand and in my case pancake batter and every thing else that hits the floor. Basically I'd leave your floor floating or easily removable if you can. You would be surprised at how many pounds of dirt wind up under the flooring and it's nice to get it all cleaned out once in a while.

Decking on the ribs leaves a pretty nice gap. I think I will be able to power wash through the spacing. I went off road a little and the decking started dancing so, it does need to be secured.

Everything I am doing is so I can power wash the inside often. When park on a light incline the water just runs out the back like my pickups.

So, after the dry fit I ran water under the decking and it streamed out nicely. I really like the look and will go for it.

I put some Loctite Power Grab on some of the center ribs to help keep boards down and reduce any rattling. It goes on white and dries clear. When I did a test I could still, with some effort, pull the boards up. Some people thought it best to be able to remove boards sometimes and I felt they were right. I still wanted to tact the center though. I didn't use a permanent adhesive. I counter sank self tapping screws on the ends of the boards. All I would have to do is unscrew the end screw and give a little yank. I am very happy with the results so far. I will go under the van and POR 15 the screw penetration points.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Nice view, Round Valley in NJ is one of my favorite kayaking Reservoirs. The water is so Clear and on most days you can see the rocky bottom 15 feet down.

Will do.

Driving around earlier today on and off road the boards seemed very secure. No rattling or vibration noises, I am pretty happy with it so far.

I thank the decking looks great and seems very functional. A once a year clean out shouldn't take too long.

Very cool van!

I guess I will be putting it on my Spring Cleaning list. Think I will number them or label when I take them out so, they just drop back into their spot.

So, I went with a regular semi rigid foam insulation. I wouldn't be spending many winter nights in the van, except a couple times maybe during Steel Head Fishing in Pulaski NY. I fit it snug but not super tight. DSC_1349.JPG

I am happy with the foam. I attached it with a little spray foam. I am not worried about the spray foam trapping water because I put it up at least 8" above the floor.

I installed a PVC panel attaching to the van Ribs. Counter sinking self tapping screws.

I am not 100% happy with the PVC. I used a 3/8" sheet because it took the curve of the van best. I just wanted to follow the vans contours but, the thinner PVC has a slight concave between the 2 Ribs. No matter what I did it just would not be completely straight across. It is just at the bottom and I might just run a deck board along the bottom and pull the concave out with screws. Don't get me wrong it isn't unsightly it is just that I notice it.

I started the wall using the vinyl floor peel and stick planks.

The pictures don't show how nice they really look installed. After I installed each plank I outlined them with a wide tip sharpie. I didn't want to chance any white pvc showing if any small spacing issues occurred. I am glad I did, a couple of very small gaps happened but with the black and shadow you can not even see it.

So far, I like the peel and stick. I will trim it out with vinyl floor trim.

Hope it is durable and will last. Since it was made for horizontal surfaces and I am using it vertical I think I will be okay.

Looks great so far, it IS a cool van, classic look! :)

Keep on keeping it simple. Maybe an auxillary batt, vent, mount a couple 5 gal jerry cans for H20, and interior lights. If you place these around the periphery, they take up very little space and the van can be flipped fast to use for roaming around when you are not working.

Thanks,

Yes, I am going to keep it simple. Since it is a Shorty it doesn't have much room inside anyhow. I will definitely get some Jerry Cans and I am trying to figure out the power now. Thinking of a second alternator and battery set up. Will be putting a ladder, Roof Basket and hopefully Classic KC light Bar with Lights. Debating where to mount or put Spare Tire thinking roof.
