Well, the GF took the plunge and there is now a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara in our driveway. I have to say it seems like a great vehicle and we got it for a great price (15k.) It has 34,000 miles on it and seems to have been pretty well taken care of.

Last night we drove to dinner and parked next to a 1st generation Grand Vitara. When I pointed out to Liz that that was the same model but a different year she couldn't believe it. They look so different it's hard to believe they even come from the same company!

My feelings are mixed. On the one hand, I love having another 4x4 in the family,:wings:

but on the other hand, my Taco is now no longer the nicest vehicle in our driveway. :( ;)

Pictures will follow, probably this weekend.

I had a 1987 Samurai hardtop that I bought with 145k on her and sold it with 215k, only issues were little ones (normal maint. stuff). I saw it for a few years around my town occasionally after I sold it.

hope it works out for you. It should have the 2,7 v6 right? If so its the same engine thats in my 2001 XL7 very nice motor. and as long as you keep up with the oil changes they last a long time.

As a side note my 1991 sidekick just ticked over 298000 kms on the original engine! Its low on compression (it got yanked out last night for a fresh motor!) but still started fine with no noises and no smoke!

I think it's one of the best looking "cute utes" out there. And with the dual-range T-case, one of the most capable.

Chet: Yes, it's the 2.7. Seems to be working a bit hard but I'm hoping it will return decent, (though not spectacular) MPG.

nice color. it may seem like its working hard but remember its not a typical v6. its a double overhead cam screamer! Like a 4 cylinder it likes the revvs. mine cruises fine at 3000-3500 RPM all day. DO NOT LUG it!
