Congrats Heidi! That is a great bike! That is just too cool that you both have bikes now. I am sure it will make for some awesome adventures.

I can imagine how excited you are - do you find excuses to go out to its parking spot just to look at it?

OMG! How did you know! Wait, is it sad that I admit that?

That's a good bike. It probably won't be something you want to ride on the freeway . . . so when you come down to the Expo, take 89 (through Florence). It's a much nicer ride on a little bike than I-10 would be.

Honestly Brian, I don't like driving the 10 to Tucson in a truck, so Florence or some other exciting route will be the plan.

Thanks man! We are both very excited, and I can't wait until tomorrow when I can get up and ride it around the neighborhood. The weather has just been beautiful lately. :bike_rider:

Good Pic, glad you didnt get a monster. Keep in mind that you don't always have to get a bigger bike to get on the highway better. There's always the option of getting more power from the bike you have - aftermarket pipe, open the airbox, rejet carb, and finally a big bore kit. Sorry if I keep pushing a small bike, just that everyone seems to be pushing the big bikes at you. My friend has the new Yamaha WR250 and it will do 80mph all day long.

If you haven't been on it yet, here is Thumpertalks Kawasaki section for your bike. Lots of good advise and knowledge base. The first link is a search for threads on the SS the other is link to the exotics forum. The expo forums are cool but TT will know more about bikes and your bike, and Josh's. I'll include link for his section also. First thing I would do to them is put some real tires on them, those tires are going to be awful offroad. Tires make a BIG difference. The Pirelli MT 43 Trials Rear is suppose to be like cheating, especially with a Rekluse clutch. First thing I bought my gf was the best, stickiest tires I could find, that thing is like a mountain goat now.

SS thread: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/search.php?searchid=10025244
Exotics: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=28
Good reading on tires: http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/search.php?searchid=10025275

OH first thing, check your air pressure. I bet they have 30+ lbs of pressure. You'll want like 10-12psi off-road and more on road, not sure what to run on road, maybe someone will chime in. Overinflated tires are like riding on marbles.

Sorry I get excited too :bike_rider:

WP. bless you for that link. Yahoo groups are seriously a painful experience for me, give me a good old forum anyday!

I went for my first ride today that wasn't in a parking lot. :bike_rider: It was awesome. I now fully understand why our dog sticks his head out the truck window! We just tooled around our neighborhood; neither of us are ready for heavy traffic yet, but it was fantastic. Hoping to get some more hood riding in tomorrow.

Unfortunately though, my bike is under recall. :( Came out the same day I bought it. I hope this isn't a bad sign of things to come. It sure ran like a champ today.

Josh ordered one of those Cycleport kevlar jackets so I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival. I've already got a jacket but its not vented very well and I know its going to be getting hotter here soon...the Cycleport seems to be a good solution for a year-round jacket...not cheap though.

Hoping to make it down to cycle gear tomorrow to pick up some on-sale farkles!! :victory:

funny

It's so entertaining going through this with total strangers! I have been there, I tell you.

You are going to love the Super Sherpa. If it was easy to get here I might have bought one instead of my TW200, but I love my TW so all is good.

Later on when you want a street bike there will be more Versys for less money available...they're so new. I think if I go back to street bikes that is what I will be getting. It looks like a great all rounder, tourer, etc.

Anyhow, have fun! I can't wait for the trails to dry out a bit myself and get out there!

PPS: I took the MSF Dirt Bike School and it was great! Pretty cheap too.

You are welcome. I wouldn't worry about a recall... They happen and are usually minor..:sombrero:

Enjoy it.. you will never regret it...:bike_rider:

Well I am so excited I had to post up. I'm sure this is silly, but I made my first successful commute today in Phoenix traffic, which I think is huge! It went well, someone only tried to kill me once. ;) There were times riding home where I would catch my shadow and realize holy crap! Thats me! On a bike! I still can't believe it.

Hoping to get it on some dirt soon and still hoping to ride it down to the Overland Expo, but thats looking less and less likely. Thanks again to everyone here for the great advice and support. :victory:

It gets easier. Pretty soon, you'll be disappointed on the days you don't get to ride to work (I am).

BTW -- drivers are generally pretty predictable. You'll learn to pick up the little cues they give off before doing something stupid. You can certainly never predict every dumb move they make, but you can pick up 75% of them, and take action to get out of their way (and prepare the left 'expressional' finger).

Thanks Brian! I was planning on commuting today as well, but unfortunately there was a twist to my schedule and I ended up having to run out the door. I found yesterday I need to get moving a little earlier than I usually do in the truck so I can have enough time to gear up and get to work.

I've spent years commuting by bicycle here in Phoenix and it was really interesting to me yesterday how similar the experience was on the moto. No one pays attention to you, you manage to piss some people off with your mere existence, and and you really have to ride defensively. :Wow1:

In other news Josh's Motoport jacket just arrived and I'm very excited to see this thing!!
