Well It Could Be A Start To Something Fun!!!

I guess you gotta start somewhere.

Looking at this mess of a project. Truck can be purchased with nice 91 style 4 headlight complete front-end, 4 nice doors, no engine/transmission, no bed. My vision would be an aluminum bed so no bed is not a big deal. Interior needs completely redone dash complete with tilt column. Good title.

Originally truck was 4WD K20 now has a "dually" rear-end under it and and a "dually" front Dana 60. Dana 60 could be converted to single wheel however rear-end would need to be replaced.

Lot's of work however it could be a good base for a fine vehicle.

Also looking at a Centurion Ford F150 Crew Cab 4WD project truck with no engine transmission.

And a Ford 1988 F350 Crew Cab 4WD Centurion conversion that runs and drives.

1987 TRUE 4WD Solid front axle Astro Van converted when new to 4WD.

All 4 would build into a good Expo type of 4WD vehicle albeit different in many ways.

Whatta ya think?

Which one you like?

From the pics alone I like the blue Ford but then again I was never a fan of the square body chevies anyway (I much prefer the predecessor, 67-72 Chevy trucks and SUV's, they were gorgeous!)

I guess it depends on whether you want to go "ground up" or do a lot more work on the bodies. You said the F350 runs and drives, I would think that puts it head and shoulders above the other ones, even if it is as long as an aircraft carrier! :D

I have also found and have the opportunity to purchase a 1969 4WD 1/2 ton Suburban PS PDB, A/C with upgraded front axle. Also needs work just a LOT "Mo Money" to buy in the beginning than any of the above. This is not a cheaper option as by the time I am done it will cost the same or more to complete to my vision.

Sorry no pictures available at this time.

OOOH! 3 door Suburban! <----- (Mods: We need a "drool" icon)

My dream truck would be a 3 door K20 'burb with a modern drivetrain. 6.0/6L80 and a conventional T-case.

The K20 crew cab has a lot of possibilities. I have seen them with shortened frames and a small box that are quite capable. The van looks interesting too. You say that it has true 4wd. Details? Have fun and do yourself the favor and stay aways from the Fruads.... Cheers, Chilli...

The story on the short wheelbase van is that it was converted when new to true 4WD with a solid front axle and leaf spring suspension for a television station out West. 4.3 V6, automatic, A/C, Manual hi/low transfer case and totally rust free. Needs an engine rebuild. Inside is blank canvas with 1 rear bench seat behind the driver's/passenger seats.
