I have to ask being as you have spent time with Discovery 3's and 4's.. How does the WK Overland stack up?
Stack up as in capability?
The Disco 2 was far from standard, the LR4 was standard though.
The WK did everything the Disco's did, but the terrain wasn't anything major or extreme.
They did have more storage than us but only had to accommodate 2 people, where our WK had to support 4 of us albeit 2 of us were preteens not adults.
Disco 2 was in the Yorkshire dales, LR4 was in Iceland.
The WK certainly held its own and didn't hold the Land Rover's back.
We all filled up on fuel at the same time but Mick's Defender was the most economical (surprise, surprise) he didn't really have to fill up anywhere as often as we did.
The only problems encountered by the group in Iceland were:
A) Defender:
River crossings caused some issues with the headlights, in Iceland headlights had to be on all the time day/night.
B) LR4:
Electronic handbrake stuck on during a river crossing, had to be disabled.
3 punctures on standard 19" wheels, we all were running with General Grabber ATs, but different sizes.
C) WK:
Front registration plate ripped off by current during river crossing.
So, pretty good overall.
The only thing that i could say was lacking compared to the Rover's was the range, we probably stopped at more petrol stations than they needed to.
