What axle for my m-416?

OK so I found this m416 on cl that's in pretty good shape. It already has a lid though I think it's a little too tall to add a roof top tent. I'm afraid the center of gravity will be off, but I'll worry about that later, I'm just stoked to have one! Anyway, the tires are crap and instead of buying (if I can find) stock replacements, I want to go ahead and change things so I can run the same 35's on the jeep. I priced a 3500 lb dexter axle with electric brakes today for $375 that has the park brake feature that I'd like to retain. I'm intrigued though by the timbren axle-less Suspension. So I'm looking for anyone that has any experience or suggestions about either. Thanks!

You can look at my thread a little ways down (m416 simple build) I put the timbren axleless suspension (4" lift offroad 2500lb) on my m416. Only additional item I added was the 2 inch square 1/4 "thick cross bar for support as recommended in th instructions. The bar sits high right under the frame and reduces flex in the frame. I'm running my old stock jkur tires. My jeep has a 3.5 lift and 35s. I think the suspension allows for plenty of clearance without bumping up to the 35s. Trailer frame bottom is measured at about 22" from ground when held level. Currently i do not carry a spare. I have on board air and plugs. I'm still looking at options for that. Hope this helps.

Oops, I did purchase wider fenders for the trailer too.

I'm using the timbren setups on two teardrops I'm currently building. I don't have any miles on them yet but they are very impressive in person. I'm using the 3500hd with off road spindles. It's confusing as the 3500hd does not use 3500lb spindles but instead 5000lb ones. The heavier duty bearings are nice but your limited to 6 or 8 lug wheels. If you want to match your JK don't use the 3500hd setup...

My m416 is built with c channel for the frame. I thought the timbrens needed 2" square tube to attach to?

The axle attaches to the frame with bolts on the outside. The 2" tube is needed because the bottom bolts will not go into the frame without some fabrication. You can see how i attached the axels to my m416 frame here. (Search for my thread "M416 simple build") I have some pics of the axles.

Thanks, I've looked at your build a couple of times actually. Did you put brakes on it? I'm wanting to use the handbrake I robbed off another 416

That's sweet. What's going on with the green guy in the background?

Do you think it would be wide enough to ruin 35s or would you need spacers? Did you use long spindle or regular? Thanks
