Well my 3rd gen Montero needs a new battery, the car came with a knock off brand one and it took a dumb yesterday, I've been tending it all night till I purchase a replacement one.

I was thinking optima I always wanted to try one.red top or maybe a yellow top

What battery are you guys running?

I do plan to do some Wheeling and camping with my family....
Only crazy power I get from my ride is my kids DVD TV hook up that it.
I just don't want to get stranded

I have a Group 31 Odyssey AGM in my Gen 1, a Group 27 Odyssey AGM in my Gen 2 and a Group 24 Autozone AGM in my Gen 3.

The Gen 3 battery was an emergency purchase, but seems to be working fine. When we truck camp with the Edgestar fridge, I strap an Odyssey PC1200 AGM in a battery box in the back next to the fridge specifically for that purpose. It lasts a couple days. I have an Exide Megacycle Group 31 AGM in the camper and 250 watts of solar on its roof. Have never run the battery below 50% running the fridge with this setup. Fit the biggest one you can, might be a Group 27 in a Gen 3, but I have not measured out the space.

I have an X2 power AGM Group 27 as the main battery and a Group 31 as the Aux battery...

These are basically Northstar batteries...

You followed me, so now we're both lost
Mine had an Autozone battery when i bought it. Worked for about another 3 years, but always gave me fits in the winter. Sometimes my car may stay parked for a couple weeks while I am away. The security system still runs and drains a little at a time as well.

The DVD system and 12V ports don't run power unless the ignition is active in the Gen 3, so they should just be pulling from the alternator.

I put in a 24M Duracell Marine High CCA battery from batteries plus in Nov. 2016. Has worked great the last 2 winters with a lot of trail riding, so I have no complaints. BatteriesPlus will also give you a 10% off code if you order online and pick up in store.

I also always keep a Stanley jumper pack in the back. Haven't needed it with the new battery, but I keep it just in case anyway.

+1 on the jumper pack, resides in the back of my Gen 2, somebody at work is always leaving their lights on. Definitely a very handy gizmo.

I have a Suaoki, bought it on Amazon a couple years ago.

I'm currently using a Bosch Platinum Series Advanced AGM (Group 24F...the stock size). It came with a 4-year, full replacement warranty. There's definitely plenty more room in the tray for a larger battery though.

My dual battery setup is simply carrying a jumper pack, a DBPower 600A. We run a 47L fridge when camping and haven't had any problems overdrawing the battery (assuming we don't stay parked for more than a day, which we typically don't). If we're staying stationary for more than a day we will hook the fridge up to the house battery in our trailer (which is tied into solar).

Our 98 has a Walmart everstart in it from 2013 that is going strong, our 96 has a DieHard that is too new to say how long it will last. I only run Interstate in our boat though.

Blue Sea ACR & National Luna Portable Power Pack - 2 very different products

The ACR can be replicated with an old style Ford starter relay, and that NL item - wow

Don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.
I'm currently running a Diehard Platinum Marine group 34 (AGM).
...got it on sale before Sears stopped carrying them.

Several years of use/winch abuse and I've got no complaints.

Inyo, does a group 34 fit in the stock tray no problem?
