What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

Recieved and installed my Gobi yesterday. I can't wait to get it loaded up! As usual with new Jeep parts, I now have another follow on project or two. I need to relocate my antenna, wrap the ladder and load bars with non-skid, and attach my kayak racks and fishing rod tube.

Started paint stripping and grinding rust off the rear bumper/tire carrier. It is a Bserk/Groundpounder Fab that arrived unpainted. I followed my normal prep work for raw steel and painted with a brand of primer and paint that I had never used before. Within one year it was faded, bubbling and blistering, in another six months it had turned gray and the paint was falling off. I won't use Duplicolor ever again. Items that I have primed and painted from the same raw steel using good old Rustoleum have lasted 3 times as long and still haven't faded either.

Washed ~330 lbs of mud off (152 kg according to the weigh scales).

Some guy got his truck stuck 16km off the road behind Lake Laberge here in Whitehorse. So me and a couple buddies went back there to pull it out. This is what wide aggressive tires, narrow fenders and tons of mud gets you. The mud on the hood is over 1" thick.

Finally got the clunk figured out in my front end, after 2.5 years of looking. It was the sway bar mount bushing. the one that mounts the bar to the chassis. THANK GOD. I was going bonkers trying to chase that down. Changing everything up front. My jeep feels new again. This week, she's getting some TLC in the form of a good throttle body cleaning, PCV valve, new plugs and im ordering an AFE dry drop in filter for the stock intake. New wheels and tires are on the way.

Finally got around to changing out my Skyjunkers, they were toast, for some sweet Bilstein 5100s. The jeep rides better than new:)

Finally installed my Iceland Offroad bumper on the WJ. :) Still need to get the winch installed in it though.

Pete
