Nice tray set up... I will be looking for updates and finished pictures.
If you're referring to my lift up idea, thanks. It's going to be challenging to say the least. My thought is to find a way to use a garage door torsion spring to provide the strength needed to raise the spare tire with the hatch. Hopefully I can design it for one handed operation which is sorta the point for avoiding the swing out design. Access to the rear with a hatch while having to keep walking around the swing out sucks.Interesting...

Biggest conundrum is how to get the two to raise together even though the arc of the hatch is different from the tire carrier. Should be a brain buster.
Yeah.. the geometry is gonna be the butt kicker. Thankfully math isn't my strong point. Haha. I'm sure there will be a lot of trial and error on this. Sadly it may get mothballed for a bit when we move next month. But I'll keep working on ideas if it turns out to be too tough a nut to crack.Yes, I followed a thread on another forum where a guy was trying to do the same thing. I believe he failed, but its been a long time, and he may have found the answers he needed by now. He basically hinged a frame for the swing up, then fastened it to the bottom of the hatch for reinforcement, and kinda forgot the geometry meant that it would bind up and not work. Id like to see it done. If I ever get to do the exo cage Id like, a swing-up tire carrier of some sort would be nice.
