What did you do to your Expo Jeep today?

U turn THANKS for the quick reply. I realize most of us don't go in water that deep... I was just asking as I've had to angle pretty much upstream sometimes to get across and the water rushes over the hood not just because of really deep water. I agree 6" above the hod is probably fine except in drastic situations where many other factors come in ;). I like the build and may copy it on my other Jeep :)

No worries buddy. I've hit holes that deep wheeling before too. I haven't tried it out yet, but I'd assume the snorkel should be good through crossings at about mid headlight to top of the hood.... ish.

Hey Uturn. How much noise do you get from that intake? Is the engine noise noticeably louder than before you installed it?

River Raiders sells a kit similar to this, but it's like $450. I built this for just over $100. I ordered the air box mount from River Raiders for $25 and put the rest together myself. Beamer Pilot.... It is off a tractor, forklift to be exact. Meckanix, I found the top hat by doing a lot of searching myself. Forklift Hood Inlet is the magic google search. Intella Forklift parts is who I got the part from for like $35. It's very well built with a 3" inlet. Pretty sure it's the same one River Raiders uses/sells. The rest I found at a local parts store. A expandable 3" air hose and two 3" throttle bodies to mount the hood inlet. 4 stainless steel bolts to mount it to the cowl and boom, snorkel.
And XJINTX, where I come from, if the water is 6" over your hood, it's probably best to try to find another, shallower route. I tip my hat to others who are that hard core about making water crossing. But water that is that deep, it's not my cup of tea. :coffeedrink:

I definitely agree with your water crossing philosophy, I hate having a soggy butt for the rest of the trip...and I did enough of that during my infantry service...

I can't tell a difference. The jeep sounds just the same as it always has. Milage has stayed the same too. Only real differences are I'll have a little more confidence on water crossings, and I think my Jeep is looking just a little more expo. :safari-rig: Just noticed you live in MO. If your near the KC area feel free to let me know. I'll meet ya somewhere and show you in person.

Took the Jeep on a road trip to Maligne Canyon, Alberta to do some hiking and exploring.

The warning signs were obvious... tree's are getting pretty pissed and are known to attack hikers in the area.

Thanks for the info. That's a good looking rig and, you're right, it does give it more of an expo look. But sort of understated. I like it a lot!

And thanks for the offer to meet up, but I'm actually back in California right now. It's a long story....

Went to Home Depot. I wanted to finish off the temporary bed frame I built but wanted to do it cheaply. Went with OSB at $8.85 for the sheet and they cut it for me. The guy asked what dimensions (62" x 26") and responded which way? There's only one way kid that it's going to work...

Pretty happy with it, especially for the short term.

I had a little gift card balance from a Christmas present so it only cost $3.64
