Old ones are pretty much junk, those nuts have ground there way deep into the terminals, I was just waiting for them to snap

Oil change and checked all fluid levels yesterday, this morning hauled myself and my cross country skis to the trailhead for a brisk 7km before work.

Replaced my trickle charger for both batteries with a couple 2W solar panels and battery clips- truck faces west and gets plenty of sun. Always ready to go even after sitting for a month!

Dropped off the truck at Aluminess so they can develop a new 'severe-duty' bumper. Great folks there. Really lookin' forward to see what they come up with. Modifyin' the left swing-arm to handle the weight of the spare and incorporatin' a bike carrier right into the design. Modifyin' the right swing-arm to add a box to carry a genset.

Any updates on this? I'm planning a new rear bumper before summer is out. This interests me as Aluminess is the design I like most.

Done. They did a great job redesignin' and rebuildin' the deal. Lots of extra support on the hinges, support for the tire, gussets, and new brackets. They said bike and generator box was too much weight tho so not part of the finished product.

Here's some progress pics before paint/powdercoatin'. Looks great now it's all black but I ain't got no pics of that.

Cheers to Aluminess for unreal customer service.

The mount was rebuilt VERY specific for my tire/wheel combo. One of the original reasons for failure was the backspacing was off so the weight stuck out from the supports too much. Now ev'rythang is a real tight fit.

Please feel free to PM me with any questions 'bout my junk.

That's similar to what I had in my mind for a more heavy duty tire mount, having something on the bottom to prevent the rocking and stress on the open/close hinges...

Edit: they should be able to make it more flexible to the tire size if they make the place where the tire attaches to the rim adjustable up and down, just make sure the weight is in the fingers at the bottom.........or so it would seem..

Bought some cheapo 6" lights from Harbor Freight $10/ea took them apart and put 3 coats of flat black on them, inside and out. Got a little more work done on my box. hopefully all my parts will be in next week to finish that. I will post more pix of that as work progresses.
