What Do You Dislike About Your JK

Yep, They do, but the big difference is, the JEEP IS STILL A JEEP. Not a lawnmower. And they use jeeps so they have something that will last unlike say a Toyota or something.:shakin:

Well I bought my Jeep about a month and a half ago. I took it to Uwharrie within a month of having it and I was bashed for taking a perfectly good $30 some thousand dollar Jeep off roading. My answer was thats one reason why I bought it! But I do have some complaints and they are mostly because I am still getting used to the switch from a decently built TJ 4 cylinder...

1- I love the power but the automatic transmission seems to down shift alot more that my TJ did.. even on road and in the mountains
2- My TJ had a stock suspension with a 2" BL, my JK is still stock but my recent trips to the mountains it seems to want to roll alot more than the TJ. It might be because the JK is 4 doors, and a hardtop. But my TJ seemed to hug the corners better.
3- Subwoofer is in a bad spot. Im wanting to either move it or delete it completely
4- Rear window visibility sucks with the wiper motor location.
5- Aftermarket parts seem to be outrageously priced. (comapred to the other Wrangler models)

But OVERALL and when I took it to Uwharrie I was absolutely suprised at the capability that it had on the trails! I was with 4 other jeeps with atleast 35's and all I lost was the piece under the front bumper.

TJ was probably a 3-speed auto. Not as many gears to shift between...

Totally agree on this point

Agreed. Mine is 6 months old in Southern California and things are already rusting underneath worse than my 14 year old land cruiser.

I had a look at mine today. Its NOTHING like that. The 2 brackets for my HID balasts are rusty but the bar is black and no rust. Same with the underside of my Jeep. NO rust.

Can You give some examples? Some stuff also might cost more due to that JK parts are bigger than to other Wrangler models. Just speculating but JK has a width of 73.9 inch and a TJ have width of 66.7 inch so a aftermarket bumper to a JK has to be longer and probably higher than to a TJ. Also lift kits probably also have to be bigger on a JK.

The payload on some diesel Wranglers unlimited year 2014 and 2105 here in Sweden got very low at only about 340kg (749 pounds).

Luckely my 2013 Rubicon unlimited got 545kg (1201 pounds) in payload. My theory is that the used the Jeep official weight for mine and the actually weighed the Diesel Wranglers, there are probaly much heavier than Jeep officially say.

I understand the JK is overall wider and longer. I know that there are many options to get on say a front bumper but I just glanced over at quadratec to see some examples but I found a company (which im not going to name because i am not going to single them out because its more than that company) but the TJ bumper with a grill bar, full width bumper, and winch mounting holes. on the TJ bumper its $499.99, and the JK is $749 to almost $1000. Maybe its me but I dont know how under a 10" width would cost that much more.

but like I said in my original post I am a Jeep guy and I will still either pay it if I want it or build it.

Current model parts always cost more, when I had a tj then YJ tops were cheaper, also demographics have changed on jeep owners there are now people paying 60 grand for a $20,000 vehicle so easier to get them to spend 1700 bucks on a front bumper

I guess I didnt think about the newer demographics. That makes sense but it really sucks!

My Jeep was only 33k, not 60k. and there are MANY bumpers that are not 1700. Stop perusing the AEV website building a JK. They charge a premium. Actually, There is no Jeep on Jeeps website that is 60k.

I don't know about new demographics. People in the cities have been buying Jeeps for years, mostly for the adventurous image and then never actually using the Jeep for anything more than a commuter car. The cities are typically the best place to shop for a used CJ or Wrangler and I've bought several from urban areas for myself and other people. All of them were stockish, very clean and not well used like rural Jeeps.

You mind posting a pic of yours showing the coil and shock tower area of the frame like I did with mine a few posts back? Just curious to see if yours does indeed have a different type of coating compared to our southern jeeps.

Hey

Can you PM me your email so I can pop you a couple of photos of mine for reference. The only rust on that front bar is my HID brackets. Nothing on my actual frame. Same under the jeep. And remember, My Jeep live in horrible winter conditions with LOTS of road salt, sand and surrounded by salt water.
