What next?

My 2002 TRD Doublecab has deavers, donahoe up front, budbuilt full skid, 255/85/16 MT's, rear hitch, rock sliders, linex in bed with 2 custom 20mm ammo cans in rear area behind wheel well.

In current form, truck is tough to stop with rear locker under most conditions, a little less than smooth on the road with MT's, and light enough without weight of front winch/bumper. I currently have it as 3rd vehicle and put 2 off road motorcycles in back on occassion.

I have rear matching shell, which looks cool, but is heavy, and can't be used with motorcycles. It has a thule roof rack which could carry a canoe, etc....

Trying to decide how to get more uses out of truck, and what if anything to do next?

Had some stray thoughts of adding some rack and FlipPac type tent? Adventure trailer? Winch and bumpers? Re-gear?

Only problem is that even on a family vacation we take the Landrover LR3, which is much more comfortable. Everyone is spoiled and doesn't want to take the "off road beast!"

thoughts????

Carl,

How is your current gear situation with the 255's? Is it a pig or do you have what you need? Your truck sounds great. The only thing I would add is a fridge.

Gearing with 255's is ok for most use, but ideally could be lowered and a front locker added.

As you know, the problem becomes "where to stop?"

I originally thought I'd regear, add front locker, winch, bumpers, etc.... Then I'd have a really capable rig not getting used off road much, as we are limited on the east coast some.

Kind of like my current BFG MT's, which are tremendous off road and in mud, but for 90% of my driving, the All Terrain's would be better!

In the past, I've had Landrovers built up, but were the only family vehicle, were somewhat roomy, etc.... so the family had no choice!
