What years Tundra do you recommend?

Limited is available on the AC, I believe Rickashay's is a Limited. The only thing different in the pre-05's is the front clip, but an aftermarket bumper for an 00-04 should fit an 05-06 and vice versa. The only thing I'm aware of that is actually limited to the 00-04 is the OEM TRD headers.

I searched for an 05-06 for the VVT-i motor and 5 speed combo. I wish I had held out for a Limited.

Note that not all of the Tundras have timing belts. The 2007-14 5.7's have chains as do the 10-14 4.6's and the 05-14 V6's. Just one less thing to worry about. I love my 08 DC LB 5.7.

I have had the following '00 AC, lost the tranny on that one, '06 DC Limited, loved it and would still have that one accept it was a company truck, I now have an '05 DC SR5 that I plan on keeping for a looooooong time. I went out of my way to find a clean 1 owner low mileage truck passing up several good deals on later model Tundras because I love the 05-06 DC like no other truck out there and I have had my fair share of them.

When I bought my 05 DC in 2009 low miles. I could have bought a 2 gen for cheaper at the time but don't regret it one bit. I feel it still have a "Toyota" feel the newer ones have a domestic taste to them. I also have a 2004 sequoia I'll drive them til the wheels fall off

Ill jump on the 05-06 train, I found mine with low-ish miles and put a deposit down the same day it was traded in... I'd been looking for a double cab limited for 2 months but they were either beat or had too many miles for the price they go for in this area. Settled for an AC and in the 3 years I've had the truck it's never let me down, multiple cross country/coast and back trips and it's still going strong. Mine had just had the timing belt replaced before I bought it, and besides replacing the suspension and tires, it's only needed routine maintenance. My roommate liked mine so much he went out and brought home an '05 AC last month.

What's the reason why '06 is your preferred year?

The first 06 I had was purchased with 50k miles. It was a limited with rear entertainment (no kids, single at the time... didn't need it). Slightly larger BFG's, Leer cap (used) and Zune interface (yes... I love my zune). Worked great. Just one of those trucks that felt right, ran right and fit well. It was better than my 2nd 06 in that it felt tighter and had Bilsteins. Favorite upgrade for that generation Tundra is PowerSlot cryo'd front rotors with Hawk pads... HUGE difference in braking performance.

An 06 Tundra should have some mileage on it at this point. What range of mileage would someone accept as being not too many and what is the price range for an 06 Tundra 4x4 double cab?

Thanks for that info. Especially about the brakes.

I've been seeing above 100K miles, but seems like mostly around 150K miles.

After all of the feedback, I've settled on an '05 and 06, but preferably 06. Now, just trying to decide if I want to go all out and get the Limited. this will be my first truck with all power, so I might as well go all out. But , it will come down to how much of a price difference. I would rather have an AC over DC, since it's a little shorter. I am single and don't have any kids, ao I don't need the DC. But, if I get the Limited, then most likely I will end up with DC, because that's all I've seen with the Limited version. Seen quite of few AC with the SR5.

I've heard the tranny was a big issue on the 2000. I knew somebody that had a 2000 with trans issue as well.

Do the AC and DC have the same size bed?

Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk

Same size bed.

Why limited? All you mainly get is leather seats. Guess being from California and seeing 100 plus degree weather I can't do leather. I had leather in my 2006 s2000 but I also had illegal tint all around lol.

If you're set on 06. Don't forget to look at 05. 05-06 are the Same and probably save a little with a 05 with similar mileage.
