I wouldn't want to get stuck behind a plate either. Maybe you need to switch to smaller dishes / cook ware if that's an issue for you?

If you're dry or dispersed camping it ends up what you want to waste water on. Clean-up or something else? I have more interesting things to do in the outdoors. That said, I do understand the mindset that some have re: cooking when camping; I just don't share it. For many, camping out is all about food, drink and the party. For me, it's more about hiking and seeing stuff other than dirty dishes.
