Wheel back spacing

Ok. Using the info you just posted the Tundra wheels (16x7 4.6backspacing) are no bueno. Looks like I'm going to Stockton for some custom wheels.

My info was purely theoretical and should be taken with a grain of salt. I should have added that to my post, sorry! :sombrero:

I am currently running wheels which are technically the incorrecty offset for my truck; they're lacking 1/2" of backspacing vs factory, but I have more room between my tires and UCAs now.

are you noticing premature tire wear?

No, I'm not; however, I only have about 3500 miles on the tires. AND, more importantly, I have a Tacoma, not a LC. Again, i was just speaking from theory and not from direct experience with your vehicle. Sorry if I added confusion to your thread!

Nah. I appreciate the info. I'm being too OCD about this. Just having a hard time pulling the trigger without being 100$ sure.

The reality is that either route you take will most likely be just fine :) Again, at this point it is kind of all about the look you want and what gives you the most future options.

Now I'm sure there are many on the CL market for cheaper. They say 15mm offset on a 16x7 which puts backspacing at what like 4.6"? Remember stock LC80 backspacing is like 4.5".

FWIW, I come up with about 4" of backspacing with an offset of 15mm. Someone please check my math and tell me if I'm incorrect on this.

25.4mm X 7" = 177.8mm

With 0 offset, the plane where the wheel meets the hub would be at 88.9mm from the back edge of the wheel, but this wheel has 15mm of positive offset yielding 103.9mm of backspacing

103.9 / 25.4mm = appx 4.09"

Anyone else care to verify this? If possible, I'd measure the actual BS of a Tundra steelie to be sure, but I think this is what you're looking for!

Okay, it took me a bit to see where my error was versus their measurements, but now I understand. When calculating rim width, they are not counting the width of the rim lips, front or rear. When calculating backspacing, they are including the rear lip. If you excluded that lip, you would come up with my 4.09" BS (which is obviously an incorrect approximation according to industry standards.) I enjoy math, but I'm definitely no automotive engineer!

Here is what the steel wheels look like on an 80 without flares...I could measure the back spacing tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm on a BB (mobile) can't make 'em out, are you running 15" LC40 wheels???

SWEET. Are those 15"? Anyway to get a head-on shot with the wheels straight ahead? What kind of wheels are those?

Those are Aussie 16" Toyota split rims with 7.50-16 tyres. I could get a better shot, but it may take a few days. I'll have to put them back on.
