Wheelers add a leaf installation problem

I had the same exact problem when I added a leaf onto my '05 tacoma. I ended up removing the clamp instead of cutting the AAL...Big Mistake. From then on, my leaf springs squeaked at every little bump. The U bolts do hold them mostly in place, but they end up splaying out just a little bit and rubbing on the clamp at the forward end and squeaking. Both sides did it, not just one. I would see if they could send you a new set with a similar weight rating but a shorter length...

Cheers,

I ended up cutting the leaf and leaving the clamp intact. Drilling the new holes was a pain, so I took it to Oregon Auto Spring and they drilled the new holes for $10, which was well worth it. The rest of the installation went great, now my truck is almost level with a small rise in the back, which is exactly what I wanted.

I guess people ordering AALs from wheelers should measure their leaf springs and ask wheelers to be sure they'll fit, because they don't fit every tacoma, even if you give them your year and model. Thanks for all your advice everybody!
