When do you learn to trust a new to you truck?

I just turned 3,000 miles (planning the oil change and tire rotation) and still not a hiccup, so I will trust the truck, even with it's head gasket and old PHH. Thanks!

You've already put 2k onto it. That's what I do in 3 months of DD if I don't do any road trips. If you haven't had any problems, I wouldn't worry about it. However, a bit of preventive maintenance goes a long way. Try not to get too carried away though.

I'm struggling with this question myself. The HJ is an 84 with over 300,000k on it. It runs strong and all the things I've found wrong or have fixed have been relatively minor so far. I've only done about 1500km on it myself and all the running gear feels very solid. I'm just not sure how comfortable I am running the 2H at 2500RPM for extended periods of time at highway speeds (read 55mph). I'm building up to it I guess...
