I wouldnt trade because, value wise, he would be getting the better end of the deal with your truck (its worth more on the market). Im looking at getting a 1st Gen for my "platform." I like old and will take it over new just about every time. Its also what youre going to make out of it. If youre looking at building it up, there is so much you can do to one which is why Im going to pick one up. If its slow, there are motor options. If the ride bothers you, there are so many options when it comes to suspension.

Again, it depends on what you are willing to do. Dont trade but buy his if youre that interested in it.
